As a hollow knight fan, the silkposts haunt my dreams… I really had hope this time it’d be different 😞🙈

Just when I thought I was putting away my Memorial Day weekend research, my mom comes home this afternoon with a bag of my recently departed uncle’s war artifacts (she was visiting my other other auntie’s house and was given it at the rendezvous) and I’m talking, like, serious artifacts. List:

The murder of Jonathan Joss is also MMIR. His murder was a homophobic hate crime, but we cannot erase his Indigeneity. Him being Indigenous plays a huge role in the way the media and society are talking about him, often blaming him for the murder.

NBC’s New Native Comedy Just Dropped Its First Cast List Set in a Native American community center in Oakland, this yet-untitled comedy has just announced its first four cast members: Jana Schmieding, Bobby Wilson, Wes Studi, and Rachel Dratch. redpopnews.com/nbcs-new-nat... #redpopnews

People keep being surprised by things Native folks told them about because they are committing testimonial injustice against Native folks

We got another update on Jonathan Joss’ murder in San Antonio. The SAPD are walkkng back on their statatement that his murder was not a hate crime. I’m glad the attention to this case is forcing the police department to investigate this as what it was. A hate crime. www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...

Lee Jae-myung, the South Korean politician who climbed the fence of the parliament to get inside and vote against martial law, has been elected president. Pretty cooool

I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE. Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it. Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

Finally getting to unpacking my mom’s office boxes on the shelf— we’ve been letting them gather dust for a few years 😓— and gotta say my mom might have had one of the largest local indigenous history collections in the area. Excited to digitize it (a lot of it is very rare material!)

This was a hate crime in a series of hate crimes Jonathan and his husband Tristan dealt with. Neighbors said he was behaving "erratically" but who wouldn't react with such extreme emotion in this situation? He was murdered on the first day of Pride. Indigenous people are not numbers. Say his name.

Jonathan Joss was MURDERED. Words matter here. He was MURDERED. it was a HATE CRIME because he is a gay Indigenous man. Say those words. Do not dance around it. He wasn't "killed in a shooting." He was murdered in a hate crime.

Grieving today. Johnathan Joss’s death was an injustice and a hate crime. Praying as well for my Teega who suffered from an stress-induced heart attack and is in recovery after a triple bypass surgery.

When a private citizen says “go back to ____”, that’s usually grounds for reason in a hate crime. The fact the government is playing an active role in saying this is the simple evidence it was always a white supremacist entity.

National Archives alert! 🧵 DOGE is planning to fire the Cartographic Section at the Archives in College Park. That staff is uniquely trained to manage and assist with visual media. Firing them will make it nearly impossible to gain access to critical maps and photographs. Examples include . . .

Coming from the rep of WI, the state with the most Alcohol-related DUIs and deaths per capita. 😒

Today I was retracing my grandfather’s military service in the South Pacific campaign and I learned a bit about U.S. Naval Operations history! He served as a coxswain boat pilot from 1943-46 and was a codetalker that participated in the Philippines Liberation campaign. Here’s a photo taken @ Emirau.
