It's amazing how knowing a few characters (like 大, 小, 日) can change the experience and give you some independence For speaking ..🤷‍♀️. I have no clue if there is a good app for it

If you want to learn kanji + reading Kanji Study is amazing and will make reading feel approachable. I found that memorizing katakana was very useful for reading imported words. For that I recommend hiraganaQuest ($7.99). They have silly stories to help you remember hiragana & katakana

My background is CMT and the audience was notoriously brutal -- usually one or more people would heckle. This was fine as long as you could distinguish between actual questions and heckling. My biggest worry is that I can't tell the difference yet in QI...
