💯

everyone: wow being a librarian is so cool you just get to read books all day your local librarian: today I had to break up a knife fight in the encyclopedia section

A word about Conan O’Brien, who I’m lucky enough to know a little bit. He is extremely funny and has drawn people to him his whole life by his talent. But he is also amazingly kind, generous and collaborative. He gave dozens of people a start or a second chance. What’s Irish for mensch?

Ralph Fiennes is still the greatest living actor without an #Oscars. 😐

Roll out the red carpet.....

Read this book: englewoodreview.org/malcolm-fole...

Thinking about posting every day a new book cover that says "[Fill in Book Name] tried to warn you. There's still time to read it!"

I owe an apology to all James Bond movies. I mocked them for having completely unrealistic, cartoonish villains that simply weren't believable. 2025 has made it impossible to levy that criticism anymore.

Every time I get on my phone to do literally anything

Can't wait for this.

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

FFS! 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙮 are firing National Park Service EMTs There will be no one to attend to you if you get attacked by wildlife, fall while climbing/hiking, have a skiing incident, are drowning, break a leg/arm/your neck, etc Alex Wilds is one such federal employee. Read what he's saying

Have absolutely done this and loved that feeling. 😂

You think evil is going to come into your houses wearing big black boots. It doesn’t come like that. Look at the language. It begins in the language. —Joseph Brodsky

As they should 👍

Congratulations! We are so honored to publish this important book, @malcolmbfoley.bsky.social! 🎉

Growing up, I was told that the demise of Christianity would be caused by our country rejecting God. Now I believe it is actually caused by Christians blatantly rejecting the teachings of Jesus for the sake of political power.

Dorothy B. Porter changed libraries 💜 The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization. Enter Dorothy B. Porter 🧵

Yes and Amen.

"Our addiction to highways cuts across the political spectrum, afflicting red & blue states alike. And most of us willingly bear this cost without a second thought. Idols demand sacrifice." From my review of @megankimble.bsky.social's book for @erbks.bsky.social: englewoodreview.org/megan-kimble...

yes

I will never cease to be amazed by books. Seriously. Just think about it; thousands of people read the same book, but in everyone’s brain’s the characters look different, the setting changes etc. We are all reading the same thing, but it's so unique to each of us. That is a beautiful thing.

Excited about this!

I think Bluesky is a great platform and I’m here to stay. However, a bookmark function would make the experience SO much better and much more functional for research/ information gathering, especially for reporters. Pretty please @support.bsky.team @bsky.app ?

Yes! Follow these authors!

Firearms continued to be the leading cause of death among Tennessee children, responsible for one in every five fatalities among children aged 1 to 17 in 2022, according to new data from the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth.

“We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist” James Baldwin

After he won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1957, Albert Camus wrote a letter of thanks to his favorite childhood teacher, whom he'd never forgotten. It's beautiful.

I just watched Celebrity #Jeopardy for the first time in at least a decade. Man... It's feeling like #snl 😂

I don't think we are supposed to individually prepare ourselves 3x meals a day every day for our whole lives I think we're supposed to have community and sharing

Lucille Clifton, always.

Wow. Just wow.

President Jimmy Carter has passed away at the age of 100. He was a symbol of what is best about America: kindness, compassion, duty and service. He will be missed, most of all by those who long for a return of that kind of country, led by a man with such strength of character.

I have always loved public libraries, but having young children has exponentially increased my gratitude and sense of indebtedness to them. Our local library is such a huge part of our lives. The books, the programming, the very intentionally curated kids’ section. It’s all such a gift.

Inspiration is what you make of it

I recommend no fewer than 4 copies of any beloved book. A paperback for traveling and lending to friends, an eBook for reading with greasy snack fingers, an audio book so you know how the characters' names are actually pronounced, and a pristine hardcover to be buried with you like a pharaoh

Our library had a desktop for kids. It malfunctioned a lot and staff, parents, and kids were always frustrated with it. It recently died and we replaced it with themed literacy stations and observation stations. Everyone loves it now! Sometimes it's nice to go backwards on technology 😁
