Once you see this chart, you will never unsee it.

BREAKING: 1 in 4 nursing homes say they will be forced to close if Republicans pass Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. No grandma should be kicked out of her nursing home so that Mark Zuckerberg can buy another Hawaiian island.

I have to update my bio. Meet Maisie and Walter. A nice timeline cleanse.

Got a ConEd alert telling me to use less energy during the heat wave and this is all I can think about.

I really wonder what my high school teacher for Western Civ (freshman year during Iraq/Kuwait) and later Arab World (yes that was a class in one of the most conservative US counties in 1993) would be thinking of this moment in time.

Do you know how badly you have to screw up as a Republican to get this kind of turnout in IDAHO? #NOKINGS

Proud of Minnesotans

The day started with tragedy with political violence in MN and instead of being scared, neighbors SHOWED UP to stand together at No Kings Twin Cities. We packed the Capitol Mall all the way to the Cathedral. Estimate 80,000+ right now. So proud of our state. #nokings #indivisible

Despite warnings from the law enforcement not to attend today’s No Kings rally after this mornings shooting of Minnesota lawmakers with the killer on the lose, the No Kings Rally is happening at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul.

Terrible morning in MN. Scared for those going on with protesting here, and yet it is important and brave.

Not my hometown, but close enough. WTF.

While Trump and Homan are rounding up dads at Home Depot and waitresses with young children, Trump is making deals with drug cartel bosses to let their families move to the USA. www.cbsnews.com/news/sinaloa...

My dad served in the USMC for three years - he would be appalled.

Random Thoughts on the second Monday of June 2025. Mostly not political. open.substack.com/pub/rachresi...

This Sinner-Alcaraz match… on to set 5.

something that stands out about this is just how cheap it is for us to have world-leading scientific capacity we spent ~6.75 trillion last year, and the combined budgets for NIH, NSF and NASA are barely more than 1% of that what an incredible waste to lose it all for a drop in the bucket

Now props to Grove Collaborative for doing the same.

Big props to DoorDash for allowing opt-out of Father’s Day offers. Mine’s been gone almost 9 years, and it still rattles me.

‘They say, We leave you our deaths. Give them their meaning.’ —Archibald MacLeish Remembering the fallen this Memorial Day, we can consider our own duty to strive so that our lives and our country are worthy of the price they paid.

Oh, so now Millennials aren’t eating enough avocado toast?

Yep. 100%.

Bam!!!!

I mean, this is why the Met Gala with its record $31 million raised this year was so important. It sent a statement.

I understand the impulse to hate on the #MetGala and the opulence of it all while the world burns. But also art and fashion and creativity and individuality are all things fascists can’t abide. Not to mention this was a night celebrating Black fashion. More than one thing can be true at a time.

He never seemed as (nearly) old as my parents back 80s/90s. Yikes.

there are a few videos with Monica L Miller on the met's instagram and honestly i could listen to that woman talk about clothes for 6 hours. i'm in love

The Met Gala raises money to support the Met's Costume Institute, the only Met department that must entirely support itself (which is its own worthy subject of conversation). The Met's Costume Institute is an ongoing marvel.

Let’s rephrase this to apply to other safety features. New air bag? Compare a crash against a car without airbags New helmet? Have kids wreck and compare to kids without a helmet. New car seat? Compare wrecks to kids who aren’t in any car seat. Also the original vaccines were tested against placebo

Friends, we are suing President Trump and his administration for abuse of power. His tariffs, like almost everything he's doing, are blatantly unconstitutional & illegal.

Ughhhhhhh

If six months ago you'd told me that in autumn 2025 I'd have to go to Canada to get my annual COVID vaccine but I wouldn't do it because coming back through immigrations was too risky for someone who had criticized the government, I would have looked at you like you were having a stroke.

FIFA should be lining up new venues in Canada and Mexico to just ditch us for the World Cup.

The pope was a strong advocate for the poor and the environment and a towering figure on the world stage, addressing not just Catholics but the men and women of our time.

They saw WWII and the Holocaust, opposed Vietnam, and now that they're in their 80s and even 90s, they've seen enough of Donald Trump So the residents of a senior living complex on Philly's Main Line are out on the road, with a protest like no other. My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/comm...

How rich is your menopause making someone else? In 2024, the global menopause market of pharmaceuticals and diet supplements alone was valued at almost 18 billion USD, and this number is projected to keep on rising.

An entire nation was forever changed and lives were brutally ripped from us on this day 26 years ago in a preventable tragedy at Columbine High School. Since then, there have been over 400 school shootings due to America’s failed leadership, lax gun laws, and capitulation to the gun industry.

Sign of the day…

You know it’s almost time for the “summer hours” of the Lowertown St. Paul Farmers’ Market when Eichten’s Cheese is back. Yay!

Even as a Colorado Avalanche fan, kind of hoping one of the five Canadian teams wins it all this year. And same goes for next 3 years.

Tomorrow is April 18th. Go out at 6am and listen to all the bells ringing across the country. Tomorrow is the 250th anniversary of when Paul Revere waited to see the signal. 1 light the British were coming 2 lights by sea. This is who we are. We are America.

Hot E. coli summer

Another one!!
