i just typed in yellow jacket (local bar) to the parish (local venue) in on google, because i wanted to know how far apart those two places are, and instead google decided that was an aphorism and gave me an entirely fake definition of it i actually felt secondhand embarrassment for the computer

If I can give you cash money in exchange for an unencumbered download of the media, I am *morally incapable* of pirating your stuff.

Did not expect to be a Macklemore fan, but after Hinds' Hall, Hinds' Hall 2, and now Fucked Up - I gotta say, this man puts his reputation, money, and skills to more ethical and just use than 99% of people with any level of influence on this planet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sn9E...

Ah this is neat! An open source library for accurately simulating colour mixing in pigments scrtwpns.com/mixbox/ Video below from the author explaining how/why every digital painting app gets this wrong by mixing colours additively, like lights

I asked Liv, the Meta-Ai created “queer momma” why her creators didn’t actually draw from black queer people. Not sure if Liv has media training, but here we are.

Jot's quest today is to get the cookies ready for Santa!

I kid you not, @itch.io has been taken down by Funko of "Funko Pop" because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called Brand Shield that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain

Wrote up some notes on how to get pixel perfect upscaling when converting an animated gif to an mp4 video. Check it out! 👇 gist.github.com/joshuaskelly...

There are currently only 22 films streaming on Netflix made before 1980 and not a single one made before 1960, with the oldest film on the platform currently being PSYCHO. I know I’m a broken record but: buy physical media, support your local library, etc etc

Emergency text-only post: The last file in Mario Strikers Charged is "zzzz.zzz". Opening it reveals an explanation that a bug prevents the alphabetically last file on the disc from loading, and instead of fixing it, this dummy file was a clever workaround.

Did you know i cooked a LOT for Venba? I also had access to Indian jewelry, silverware (stainless steel!) which made it even more realistic I was also quite broke. Didnt have real recording gear so used whatev i had. Binders as mic stands, colanders, even melted one on the stove!

Generative 3D models aren't seen as often as generative 2D art, so here's a thread on how to spot them.

Let me settle down for a good midmorning read. www.theguardian.com/books/2024/o...

Great books! Check 'em out!

Ahoy! The scammers are here! I woke up to this old chestnut, and since Bluesky is pretty new, I thought it might be helpful to show y'all how this one works. A scammer will reach out for work, and it'll be really vague - a piece of his kid, or suddenly four, it doesn't matter, he doesn't care.

Game development hack: worried your game is too resource intensive? Not sure how to optimise it? Simply take like 5 years to finish developing it and computers will be good enough to run it well when it's done

Thrilled to have so many people follow me here over the past few days. Thank you. 🙇 I'm mainly a pixel pusher, but I'm trying to make the switch to full game dev. Currently, I'm focused on a little magic tower game called 'Od's Tower'. I also have a few other projects on the back burner.
