High tax economy has stagnated since Covid. No growth since 2020, unemployment at 9-10%. Very little market competition, none in the financial sector. Sweden is living on borrowed time. Next government will be social democrats and hard left (proper commies). See Norway what such governments do

State owned alcohol monopoly! Abolished everywhere else (apart from few nordics) in Europe in early 90s! Prices for any alcohol are 3-4 times higher than in neighbouring Germany or Poland. Electricity tax highest in EU, where most houses need 6 months of el heating per year, even now

Workplace grading is based entirely on age, never on merits or skills, senior jobs are only for the oldest. Young brilliant ppl can only dream of promotion and have to accept union negotiated 2.5% pay rise for all. Or you can fuck off if you don’t like it. Creative swedes are running away in doves

*health service and *interested.
Most Swedes are conditioned to be “happy” about not having it worst as others. A lot of social payments to lazy and promiscuous at the cost of those without kids and with better education. Anyone who wants to leave Sweden is hit with 5year exit tax

Form a foreigner living in Sweden, it’s just a perception from afar. 32% min tax, going over 50% for anyone on 60k USD a year. Health device is “free” but it’s not interesting in helping ppl, just managing costs. Pension is ok only if you’ve been working in SWE all your life. And happiness is a myth

That reminds me.
49 year old Pole here. Only after watching your excellent Yale online course on YT last year I realised my family and I were saying “na Ukrainie”, as in “Ona mieszka na Ukrainie” as opposed to “w Ukrainie”. No disrespect intended, we all fully support UKR.

Ah, wonderful. Enjoy the games. I have 4 on order this time so will be on a lookout for first European customers. That means the UPS delivery is close

You might be surprised by the support for this. Poland needs to transition to a cleaner energy than burning coal so nuclear “dual purpose” development is not a bad idea. Also, it’s always good to listen to you and your guests, so don’t give up

There was also Ryan’s post after Putin Trump call where he said that Putin knows how to handle Trump and Ze doesn’t. I found that quite shocking “analysis”. One is asking for help and the other one is offering to divide someone else country and Trump is all for it so they get along well

At low price end they are too big, inefficient and lack modern safety features. At high/sport end they are too plastic inside, lack modern technology and handling/ ride comfort of equivalent mostly German flagships

The conclusions are drawn based on the assumption that CCP would take a nuclear war (in some form) as a gamble than a conventional military defeat, as that would spell the end of CCP. I doubt that and the document itself says sinologist participating in the game disagree about that

I’ve been listening to your podcasts for a long time and I’ve never heard you so worked up Ryan. I fully share the frustration with the current administration and their (lack of) logic. I hope you’re right and Trump will keep support for UKR. He has just been consulting with Orban so I’m not so sure
