1. Ghostlight Average rating: 4/5 This is truly one of the best movies I have seen in years. I wish I took tissues to the theater but it’s so underrated I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. Emotional and raw, really stabs in the heart #filmsky

2. The Substance Average rating: 3.8/5 After first watching this, I didn’t even know what to think but I thought about it for weeks after. This is just so well done, amazing story, and Demi Moore was so so good (my fav performance of the year) #filmsky

3. The Wild Robot Average rating: 4.2/5 🥹🥹 <—- me the entire time I was watching this movie. It was so so cute, heartwarming, adorable, touching. The score is amazing. Complete 10/10 #filmsky

4. Memoir of a Snail Average rating: 4.1/5 This movie is so fucking sad but hilarious. I related to it so much - it’s about loneliness, love, loss, and life itself. I teared up at so much of it #filmsky

5. Strange Darling Average rating: 3.5/5 This movie took a usual predictable type of horror and flipped it on its head. Not only was the storytelling done in a new way but just the story overall surprised me - and even if it doesn’t surprise you, it’s still told in a unique way #filmsky

6. Anora Average rating: 4.1/5 This movie is messy but raw and there are a couple of scenes that made my heartbreak and I haven’t stopped thinking about them. It made me laugh but also nearly made me cry #filmsky

7. Inside Out 2 Average rating: 3.6/5 It wasn’t as good as the first, but it was still so good. They covered anxiety so well and included core beliefs, I just love how it focuses on mental health and makes it digestible for everyone #filmsky

8. Kill Average rating: 3.6/5 I’m not a big action fan, so this surprised me! Actually, I’ve discovered I love action movies as long as the whole thing is on a train. They made some choices that surprised me which was fun! #filmsky

9. Dìdi Average rating: 4/5 Once again, a coming of age story so of course I ate this up. This took place in the late 2000s which is exactly when I was a preteen too so it really hit home. Also loved the family relationships in this one #filmsky

10. We Grown Now Average rating: 3.6/5 As I mentioned earlier, im a huge sucker for coming of age movies. This one covers topics like saying goodbye that make it an emotional story. Super underrated #filmsky

11. The Wasp Average rating: 3.1/5 This movie is a definition of supporting women’s wrongs. Apparently this was a play before and you can tell because it mostly takes place in one room but that doesn’t take away from it at all, the story is compelling #filmsky

12. Origin Average rating: 3.5/5 This movie impressed me for the fact that it tackles a very charged and heavy topic very well. Many films that try to talk about race do it shallowly or miss the mark but this movie did it well and it’s worth the watch #filmsky

I’m just short of an average of 14 movies a week which was my goal lol. Got busier in the fall months but winter is very slow for me so I am watching a lot in December/Jan/Feb of each year

13. Dune: Part 2 Average rating: 4.4/5 Considering how much I hated part 1, nobody was more shocked than me that part 2 is so good. This was a true movie theater experience, idk if it is as enjoyable at home as at the theater but the story is better too #Filmsky

14. Flow Average rating: 4/5 For a movie with no speaking characters, this does an amazing job of developing lovable characters and giving meaning to things by showing it to you instead of telling you. #filmsky

15. Blink Twice Average rating: 3.4/5 Pretty sure that I liked this more than most people, but whatever I thought it was brilliant. The ending isn’t the best I can admit, but this was giving inspired by Get Out and I enjoyed the mystery and the horror. #filmsky

16. Challengers Average rating: 3.9/5 I love movies focused on relationships and this one is messy - romantically and friendship wise - plus, the tennis stuff is all so cool like the cinematography is unlike anything I had seen before #filmsky

17. Civil War Average rating: 3.6/5 This was a surprise to me - it was told in a perspective that I didn’t expect at all but it was absolutely the most interesting route to go. Good performances, characters, and script tbh #filmsky

18. My Old Ass Average rating: 3.5/5 I’m always a sucker for a coming of age drama - this one is hilarious and heartwarming and has a good message about how basically life is to be lived and if you hide from pain you hide from joy too #Filmsky

19. Heretic Average rating: 3.4/5 I thought I wouldn’t like this movie at all but I was pleasantly surprised. Hugh Grant ate this up, the girlies ate this up, the story was interesting idk it just really exceeded my expectations #filmsky

20. We Live in Time Average rating: 3.7/5 The beginning is a little rough because it has a lot of time jumps for no reason, but overall the story and characters are what made me love this one (also Florence Pugh mother) #filmsky

There’s so much more in theaters than you realize lmao I truly was able to see up to 3 pretty much every single week of the year. It slowed a little here in December tho
