Something about it being for a personal essay just really got me!

I’m biased because my childhood cat was a black cat and she was an icon, but I swear I think there’s something special about them!

This is a really good point. I just spoke to someone a few weeks ago who recently graduated college and is job-searching, and also helping his parent job search. (I'm also really sorry you all are experiencing this; it's brutal.)

For reference, the column is below. (And an evergreen note to please send me all your workplace or work-life questions, or issues you'd like to see covered. Would love to dig into them for Teen Vogue's Work in Progress column!)

Dipping even younger than recent college grads, multiple
high schoolers have told me in the past few weeks they can't find summer jobs because they don't have enough experience, and there are so many applicants. Some of them just got their license this year or are barely old enough to legally work.

Also, as someone I spoke with pointed out, advice to "get internships and work experience and stand out from peers!" doesn't hold up when there are...no opportunities to get that work experience. So many internship programs have been cut or are unpaid. Fewer entry level jobs. It's a mess.

I've watched the first season an outrageous amount of times and second season dropped today! I'm excited.

This is Harry, named for When Harry Met Sally, starving stray cat turned 17-pound giant baby that I’m so obsessed with, I wrote about him in an essay back in 2023. (My other cat, his best pal, is Fig Newton. My Instagram account is basically…them and news reposts.)

No, it's rolling! I think the team reviews pitches once a month, including for sections beyond the youth vertical, but will double-check.

Some people took this as an opportunity to recommend all the kinds of iced coffee I’d like instead. 🫠
