I wrote about why I hate AI "art" www.theneweuropean.co.uk/emily-herrin...

I'd forgotten how much I love this small quartet. soundcloud.com/r-a-moulds/s...

What we need is a central authority to issue “written by a human” certificates for books, a bit like the organic label on foodstuffs, so consumers can identify & avoid the AI slop

I saw a post about someone's 'least favourite Beatles song' and I suddenly realised I don't have one...I hate them all equally!

Are multiple mvt chamber pieces still a thing, or am I barking up the wrong tree as usual?

All sorts of delights on offer this evening - and how wonderful that the weather has played ball for a programme which in part celebrates the return of spring!

Searching through old (ancient!) sketches, I found the beginning of a string quartet titled 'Temple Hill: a Cork Reel' which sounds very fetching. Should I take it up again, or am I beating a dead horse?

One of the greatest benefits of hearing one's work performed by capable musicians is learning which effects and techniques to avoid, even if they are warmly approved by the orchestration textbooks.

Happy St Patrick's Day! soundcloud.com/r-a-moulds/r...

Not bad, eh? soundcloud.com/r-a-moulds/d...

No luck. The muse just won't communicate.

What a week. I hope I can get back to my desk next week and pick up my quintet where I left off.

Not happy with Twitter, not excited by this platform. Perhaps social media just aren't for me.

All quiet on the Western Front lately. Have I done something wrong?

To be honest, I'm not seeing much difference between Bluesky and the Other Place. Perhaps that indicates what I've suspected all along...it's not the platform, but the users.

I'm still decompressing from the high of hearing 'The Voice of the Lee.' What a privilege! I'll get back to scribbling soon, I promise.

Well, in the end I didn't give my little speech, but I'm just as pleased about that; I'm a poor public speaker at best. The performance was wonderful, and I'm told many in the packed house were very effusive about my creation. That is very good to hear.

I finished my intro for next Sunday. I kept it VERY short, and did not elaborate, I was particular to extend thanks to everyone involved individually. That may seem excessive, but it means a lot to me.

Two weeks to go. Will I survive?

Is it just my imagination, or is even the mildest criticism or disapproval now being characterized as 'hate speech?' Does this mean that I can have all the folks who have labeled my compositions as 'amateurish,' 'old-fashioned,' or 'passé' brought up on charges?

BlueSky seems to be a bit of a damp squib so far.

Three copies of The Voice of the Lee (sxt) ordered. Why three? I have no idea.

Catch-farts seem to be ubiquitous at the moment.

I thought Bluesky was supposed to be better than X. So far, so 'meh'...

Reading cursive handwriting is rare? Kill me now.

Question: do you believe composers should be compelled to pontificate about their artwork at its premiere? I ask because I DREAD public speaking, and am being urged to speak about my piece before its first performance. Yikes!

As the years have passed, I've developed an aversion to lengthy and braggadocious notes accompanying new music. Yes, there was a time when I probably indulged, but no more. Either the music itself works, or it doesn't. Put in a SHORT explanation of the title/image, and...

AI is a more than a dead-end: it is death. The death of creativity, the death of the paid artist, and the death of the environment. But, hey! Some rich people got even more money, and lazy people got a shitty image or text.
