I've decided that "incel" is a stupid word. I will not be taking any comments at this time.

There's a product called Krisp dot ai that vocally isolates you in meetings. I decided I want to close my account because Apple has caught up with voice isolation tech now.

I just used the macOS vocal isolation feature with the built-in microphone on my MacBook Pro, for a voice audition, and it sounds amazing. Not studio quality, but infinitely better than a phone recording, and almost as good as my USB mic. I'm very impressed.

Guess what: this spreads via airborne transmission too. Another reason to regulate indoor air. Vaccines work better when air is cleaner, says math www.nytimes.com/2025/04/24/w...

Current status: surprise concert trip to see Kylie!

The UK's political and media class has spent years heaping sadism on trans people, and they want to do the same in Ireland next. Calls for civility and calm won't cut it. We need to fight them tooth and nail. www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle-co...

Sooo in these troubling times I would focus on listening to the people who told us all about how this was going to go down and stop listening to the people who scoffed or mocked that Mmhmm.

This N*zi playbook they’re using is so boring and so predictable

Following public false claims on autism causation and attacks on science, INSAR has released a statement that people are “born with autism” www.autism-insar.org/page/insarst.... Autism as innate and lifelong is the focus my new free paper (long thread incoming): www.frontiersin.org/journals/int...

just so you all know bc books are a very opaque business... any way you buy/borrow a book is fantastic, but getting hard copies is *significantly* better for the author because that number shows up in an antiquated database called BookScan that publishers prize. ebooks & audio don't.

Serious question: do I want a Nintendo Switch 2? The last gaming device I bought was a PS3 back in 2010 so we could watch Blu-rays. I think I have like five games for it, including the one where you do crimes in the streets. Also my thumbs don’t do that gaming stuff very well.

My favourite song of all time is Ebeneezer Goode by The Shamen, and I’ve never taken ecstasy.

Holy shit what did I wade into? 9/11 wasn’t worse than the Challenger disaster. The Challenger disaster wasn’t worse than 9/11. They were both bad things. C’mon folks, you know who your real enemy is. Go punch a fascist.

Today in (CHEERFUL) autism books: Flap Your Hands by @steveasbell.com, who "wrote and illustrated this book to celebrate & support kids who might stim themselves, but also to share the joy of repetitive self regulation with parents, teachers, caregivers & peers." www.steveasbell.com#/flap-your-h...

South Africa is changing their VAT from 15% to 15.5%. If you store financial data using floating point numbers, stop that right now. The mantissa is stored as a fractional power of two, so you’re going to have ugly rounding errors that present at 5 decimals. Or, in real terms, any amount over 9,999.

Margaret Hamilton created the software that sent humans to the moon. Katherine Johnson was the only person that early astronauts trusted to check their orbit calculations. Pearl I. Young was the first woman scientist at NASA in 1922. These are the women who built space travel. Learn their stories:
