Even a literal majority (52%) of people *who otherwise support Trump* are opposed to this stupid thing

Anytime I read a media story about something where I actually know the real facts (eg it happened to me) it reinforces how *approximate* all news must be. It's never quite right.

We should be allowed to say that stupid things are stupid. If I said something stupid, I would expect Mark Cuban to tell me so.

The framing of this is so strange. Possibly the protesters don't care what Republicans think? Maybe they even want to irritate Republicans, who are busily undermining our democratic system of government?

I don't think it matters whether you believe in a creator or not, that is just the phrasing that the Declaration uses. The point is that your rights are inherent to you, they aren't given by the Constitution or any government.

Well, actually...
Your rights are inherent to you as a person ("endowed by your creator"). The Constitution creates limits on how the government can interfere with your rights, but the rights exist independently and automatically.

What the fuck is the cause of action? Having bad ideas? That is 100% legal in the United States of America.

Question: does Home Depot have any cause of action against the government for being targeted for (non-probable cause) raids?

The fact that the country (in practice) often disregards our rights does not mean that we should act like those rights are worthless. America is legitimately a bold experiment in self-governance and should be celebrated for that.

What they "truly are" according to who? A flag is just a symbol. It represents whatever we, collectively, decide it represents. That meaning only exists in our heads. The battle here is to define what the flag means. I say it represents the idea that the people are the true sovereign, not a king.
