I feel like my vehicular foresight is pretty decent, but I still find myself muttering "What are they DOING?!" a lot.

Mark Rober released a video (last week?) showing LIDAR doing impressive work in ridiculous conditions.

You could start a cult to help pay for all that.

My most recent purchase was "utopiation.com," with which I don't even know what I wanted to do. "The act of building a utopia" seemed like a word that should exist, and if a word, why not a domain name? I own a mere 48 domains now, 7 of which I won't renew this year. Slowly but surely.

Next oldest domain I've done absolutely nothing with, but at least I've finally turned off renewals: "notifieds.com," which in my 2007 brain was going to be a service for searching classifieds like Craigslist or Ebay or whatever, and notify you when it found the price you wanted on that one thing.

Sorry about the grief. And the depression. And Facebook. If it's any consolation, they DIDN'T steal anything of mine, and that stings. "Gimme the watch! ...oh, huh, look at that. You know what, you can keep it."

If I had a nickel for every time somebody told me to save my money, I'd... Oh. Oh god. Oh no, why didn't I listen

It's really been too long, but I think you're right. It's just that Don Knotts is so much funnier too look at.

I can't help their negative self-image. I tell them they're beautiful but they just hold themselves to Daisy Duck standards

A fantastic point I hadn't considered! Tangent: I wonder what the cave dwellers who painted Lascaux's murals were guilty of. Besides graffiti.

Anyway, I feel your pain. I loved Cosby starting at age 10. I loathe him.

Mel Gibson made some fantastic movies, but I've refused to rewatch them, or see new stuff, ever since his antisemitic rant. Maybe after he's dead it'll feel ok. Maybe. Mel's films may outlast his legacy. 100 years from now we'll still have the movies, & nobody but historians to tell us about HIM.

I was thinking about fandom today. We generally don't separate the artist from the art, especially if supporting the art supports the living artist. But in some cases, could we? Can I be a fan of art without being a fan of its artist? Maybe the answer is no. But you reminded me of the question.

I also made a unicorn topper, and a version of the mermaid topper that has a hole for a toothpick instead of a post. Lookout, cupcake topper industry!

I used Adobe Flash (from 2012 - yes I still have it installed) to improve the vector art, which I then opened in Illustrator, which then allowed me to export an SVG. Then I used an online site to convert the SVG to an STL, which I opened in Blender to tweak. Then I saved the STL and printed it.

The version in the hymnbook of my Mormon days said "let us LIVE to make men free," which I think I prefer. Still gave me chills.
