These sweet native bees got big mad when I tried to deadhead the flowers they were feeding on. So I asked them if I could take a picture instead. 🌱🌱🌱

Keeps happening. 🌱🌱🌱

If you don't pick 'em, you don't get more.

We trimmed the roses last weekend and the whole house smells like heaven. Otherwise,a month-old back injury is putting a cramp in my gardening. 🌱🌱🌱

Don't look now, but I think that that was summer for the bayarrhea. I hope you didn't blink. Now we're back to the normal, 62F and partly cloudy, seasonably sh*tty weather pattern. The plants at least mind less than I do. 🌱🌱🌱

It's aliiiive! This milkweed in the work garden was planted in the fall. Disappeared over the winter, like they do. So happy It's back in the spring.

It rained today! Deeply weird for this part of the world, and likely to lead to powdery mildew, but I was still so excited.

I'm startled to report that each color of potato cooked at a different rate... blue fastest, white longest. 🌱🌱🌱

A pollen-laden bee (?) on a poppy in the work garden.

It's nearly May, and the weather has no business being so cold. That said, it looks like it will be a good year for plums.

In my home city were many crabapple trees, and they would all burst into bloom on the same day each year, usually in late May. That was the beginning of the brief, sweet summer that made the long winters bearable. A blooming crabapple still always makes me smile.

We have achieved artichokes!🌱🌱🌱

Unexpected birthday flowers from my bosses! Very kind of them to think of me. 🌱

Flowers from the home garden, plus a few overwintering friends.🌱

Iris confusa "Chengdu" blooming in the garden. 🌱

It begins. 🌱

Turnips and carrots. The cabbage was a wash, unless the goal was aphids, but the potatoes are happy. 🌱

The California poppies are starting to flower in the work garden! 🌱

My Christmas cactus is late, but faithful. 🌱

Gong hay fat choi, happy Lunar New Year!

From the indoor orchids, this time: Miltonopsis "Golden Snows". The fragrance is strongest in the morning. 🌱

From the home garden this time: Tokyo Cross turnip. The first of the winter crops.
