just blurted out in class "yes, you have to cite where you got your info. in a world in which lying loudly is the only thing that seems to get rewarded, citing your sources is an act of resistance" and folks, I really believe that.

Chants of ‘education for all’ as a Tennessee Senate committee votes to advance bill allowing k-12 public school districts to bar undocumented kids. Many, including children here, are weeping @tennesseelookout.com

So much WTF

Every time a career lawyer is pushed out, you can assume they were told to do something illegal.

Anti-abortion advocates have literally moved to Amarillo so their cases fall under Matthew Kacsmaryk, who is the only federal judge in the jurisdiction and just coincidentally a self-proclaimed opponent of contraception, mifepristone and other pro-choice efforts.

recessions and their causes, a history: 1929: Black Thursday 1973: OPEC oil embargo 2008: subprime CDOs 2020: COVID-19 2025: let’s go Brandon

personally would not describe the myth of a man cursed to roll a rock uphill FRUITLESSLY FOR ALL ETERNITY as “a reminder that you can overcome anything” but you do you, meta ad

French Senator Claude Malhuret: "Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine... We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor."

The largest purchaser of wine is the Liquor Control Board of Ontario. The shelves of Kentucky whiskey, American beer and California wine are now empty. The LCOBO was doing a brisk business - good news for Canadian, French, Spanish, Australian, Chilean. Sucks for Kentucky and California.

Reminder: if you predicted half the things happening now (threatening to take Canada, Greenland, and the Panama Canal; lawless mass firings; complete defiance of Congressional prerogatives; mass pardons of violent supporters) even a couple of years ago, Serious Thinkers would have dismissed you. /1

Slotkin: While we are on the subject of Elon Musk, is there anyone in America who's comfortable with him and his gang using his own computer servers to poke to your tax returns, your health information, your bank accounts?

My God: they are selling off federal buildings and no longer planning on collecting revenues. Again, none of this is about efficiency. I know the IRS is not popular, but for every dollar invested it generates about $7 in returns. The goal is not to save money but to stop collecting it.

"medical freedom" = criminalizing vaccines, in the same way that "free speech" = banning words and books

Which US state has the most billion dollar weather and climate disasters? It’s not California and it’s not Florida - it’s Texas. As this article explains, the only state subject to more wildfires than Texas is California. Texas even leads California in acreage burned.

"Neither of the Legislature’s voucher bills require private schools to accept certain students" and there it is. www.texastribune.org/2025/03/04/t...

The same guy who wants Ten Commandments on school walls constantly lies about everything.

Newly finished crocheted throw, used once by a human, now claimed by a large old orange kitty.

It’s fun to whipsaw back and forth five times every day between “Don’t overreact to alarming news” and “OK should I be hoarding food or something.”

Playing with fabric & yarn is going to keep me sane for the next 4 years (I hope).

Not THAT revolving door, the other one...

#TuesdayBlue This is the ultimate Cat Lady quilt. The finished size is 104x108 inches! There are 900 hexagons that are hand-pieced and machine quilted before sewing the hexagons together. Each hexagon has a unique cat image. I'll attach a close-up. By Sandra Anne Sidell, Camarillo, Ca.

This is quite a kicker in Thomas Edsall’s latest op-ed. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/04/o...

I humbly put this forward as a possible campaign for the new electric VW

Anyway, periodic reminder that congress can, and should, end this any time

Really wondering if this is throwback robber baron stuff, like buying vacant land ahead of a railroad. They'll end leases to restart them in buildings they own/lease. Commercial real estate ain't hard to find or to buy these days.

Their capacity to just flat out lie is matched only by the capacity of dupes to accept it.

ProPublica looked into science grants that Ted Cruz's team flagged as "radical" and "neo-Marxist" and, uh. This would be good comedy if it didn't matter so much www.propublica.org/article/ted-...

NEWS: The USAID official put on leave for disseminating two memos about Rubio's failure to push through life-saving foreign aid was in the process of writing a THIRD memo when fired. We obtained it. It's far more alarming than the first two. www.thebulwark.com/p/what-a-wee...

I should pause here and say that pretty much every time I speak about my own harm (that is being paid for by NY taxpayers) the court receives a letter from Cuomo’s attorney’s trying to silence me.

The former head of the Social Security Administration says he expects the agency to miss on some payments over the next three months, interrupting some people's benefits, for the first time in Social Security's history of eight decades: www.cnbc.com/2025/03/01/d...

"republicans are obsessed with your kids genitals and these patriots who fight in our military and just lead ordinary lives like yours just want to shit in peace" - easiest dem messaging on trans rights

What the hell? Why are humans so dumb?

Musk and Marco are going for some Mao like numbers

Oh dang, are we talking about ancient prosthetics in here?! My absolute *favorite* ancient prosthetic is this 2,200-year-old leg from prehistoric China! It was made of wood, ox horn, leather, and horse hoof, and made for a man with a fused knee joint.

Once, on Twitter, Chris berated me for daring to suggest that I would like my Senator to have some compassion and empathy. Just a whole family of crappy humans.

We Should Have Finished Reconstruction: A Brief History Of American Politics, 1865-2025

Finally basting this. While listening to baseball on the radio. Nice to hear Eric Nadel in his 47th spring training.

As long as Elon Musk is running his mouth about Social Security—which he appears to be trying to understand in real-time—I’ll note that DOGE has yet to find a single instance of fraud across the entire government, as I reported for @atrupar.com this week. www.publicnotice.co/p/despite-th...

At least the people who needlessly die in the next wave of hurricanes will die in a world with fewer pronouns. I'm sure that'll be a comfort to their loved ones.

No one wants a paper trail because spending funds Congress has not appropriated is colloquially known as “stealing from the US Treasury.”

Part of how we're rushing toward the abyss - the lawbreaking is so widespread that they may be unwilling to relinquish power voluntarily for fear of (rightfully) facing prosecution
