The standards of record sellers has really dropped, it's one reason I don't collect much anymore.

Honestly the feelgood wore of for me on the Sunday of the con, it was the first CFZ where I was genuinely bored. Got me away from work but that's it really.

I'm glad I was in the UK fandom before it got too big, I only wish it had been a few years earlier

The issue with me is the slowing down/braking, I find it way easier in a manual.
comment in response to

Yeah it's harder and more expensive to find an automatic teacher, not to mention automatic cars are more expensive second hand too. I never got on with it as well as manual, but my instructor insists I'd be better at it

Glad I'm not the only one struggling, I've had 5 instructors so far and still not gotten to do a test

Sleeping Dogs is not a serious game at all, I like it for the mindless kung fu violence XD My issue with Yakuza was most things seemed to be search quests and the sandbox stuff doesn't let you do that much.

I think Sleeping Dogs is better.

12. Bob Marley & The Wailers - Wail N Soul M Singles Selecta. This collection of '67-'68 rocksteady self-releases is so good and often overlooked. Has a distinctly rural rasta sound in places that gives it a unique and very relaxing atmosphere. They never quite sounded like this before or after.

11. New Radicals - Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too. An album that never gets old. In which Gregg Alexander, Danielle Brisebois and Rick Nowels find the perfect balance of their various styles, whilst still managing to sound spontaneous and wild. Stay tuned for my book on Gregg in the future.

Such is (perceived) peer pressure in this fandom, people will still get fursuits even if health issues make it a bad idea. But I feel like people have to come to this realisation on their own. When cons act like this it just makes it worse. I don't mind partialling, good to show off cool shirts.

I've always tried not to have skin showing when I suit, as I'm in character, though wrist skin can be exposed cause of loose forearm fabric. Suiting's a commitment and if I don't feel up to it, I am under no pressure to. I always talk in suit, as people inevitably talk to me more often that way.

10. Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica . A tour de force of organised chaos. Heard this when I was 11 & was never the same. I laughed at the atonality, silly voices, and rambling narratives. But the unique polyrhythms and dissonance kept me listening, and I listened to it every summer for years.

9. Steely Dan - Gaucho. This is the perfect siesta album, mellow latin jazz influenced tunes that flow together perfectly, with humourous lyrics. At 7 tracks it never overstays its welcome, though it's even better if you combine it with its various outtakes (Kulee Baba ftw)

8. System Of A Down - s/t. The craziest metal party album, that I can pretty much sing along to all the way through. They did good albums afterwards but they have never bettered the hyperactive energy and crunchy darkness of this album.

7. Thomas Dolby - The Golden Age Of Wireless (2009 Expanded Version). Cinematic synth prog masterpiece by the master of storytelling, who made me realise sounding unmistakeably English in your vocals isn't the worst thing. Takes you on a real adventure, especially on my fave track "Weightless".

6. Missing Persons - Rhyme & Reason. A new wave group formed by (mostly) ex-Frank Zappa alumni that had a unique sound. Where the 1st album Spring Session M had a simpler (albeit impressive) synth punk sound, this 2nd album has more experimental, melodic song structures and influenced me hugely.

5. Type O Negative - October Rust. I could pick any album they did, but there's something particularly special about this album, with Love You To Death, Green Man and Die With Me in particular having incredible melodies and atmosphere. The perfect Gothtober album for melancholy walks in the forest.

4. Tears For Fears - The Seeds Of Love. You can't go wrong with any of the 80s TFF albums, but this album has a unique sprawl due to its long jazzy tunes, and is one of my go-to albums to chillout to. Also beautiful artwork that enhances the music.

3. The B-52's - Wild Planet. This album is the definition of what New Wave means to me, the perfect middle ground between the energy of punk and synthpop, with an 'anything goes' feel. I like all The B-52's work, but the speed and power of this LP is notably intense, and never fails to perk me up.

2. Genesis - Trespass. An album I really got into in recent years. On the surface it's quite folky, but gets quite heavy at points. The first side is pretty good, but the second side is incredible, with Stagnation in particular having an incredible use of light and shade. Mesmerising artwork too.

1. Microdisney - Everybody Is Fantastic. This album inspired me as soon as I heard it. A surreal fusion of synthpop and folk music, with a very distinct identity to the lyrics. It taught me that you can be a tough cynical guy yet melancholy at the same time. Sublime cover art too.

Yeah, the newbies can keep it now. I loved it back in the day, but it just feels like crashing a party I wasn't invited to.

I have organised them as an unscheduled thing since 2017, but this year's one barely happened as most people were too busy. I have a Telegram group for it if you wanna join. Same goes to @rakkewn.bsky.social

It's been a really dull con, some good moments but so much missing from previous years (both people and events-wise) that it's unreal.
