Ooooohh ok Midgard is like Blood Rage remastered. You probably will have the same experience. Btw the op, Eric designed both.

Pretty much. Boardgames are having a terrible time, just as they were bouncing from production issues due to the pandemic they get hit with massive tariffs. That’s without counting how asmodee (bg equivalent of ea) is taking over everything or how games get played once and then replaced with the new

Champions of Midgard? Reavers? Some other Midgard game? Because I love the first two
comment in response to

Yes exactly, and maybe even a bit more cause it’s easier to borrow stuff from multiple physical games to create a whole new game

Yes, Eric Lang is a very famous board game designer. Right now boardgames are going through a bit of a crisis

That could also work

I want to make a correction, you say idea, no I propose something more like: if you have mansions of madness tiles and minis and the dice from zombicide I have created a whole different game where one team plays the monsters and another the survivors: here’s a pdf with extra components and rules
comment in response to
post
This isn’t even a novel idea. One page rules does this already. You can use your warhammer minis and play a completely new ruleset with completely different game sensibilities.

That also works but requires more resources. Nothing I’m suggesting precludes game design and testing. Rather a way to sidestep production costs and finding ways to make game design and distribution more accessible.
comment in response to
post
Rules and mechanics are the hard part. Having game components in your house is a normal consequence of playing board games. I’m not saying EVERY game should be like this but rather it’s an alternative for those that don’t have access to distribution systems.

I just think it’s a good way to make games for those struggling to get published. Components a game do not make. And it also allows people to save some money, be less consumerist, it’s more sustainable, etc.
comment in response to
post
At this point I’d be open to designers that tell you: if you have x,y and z components (or games) here’s a game I designed (sell the rules and graphics necessary)

No it wouldn’t, it would sell arms to the right wing dictator running the United States, so the United States could benefit from the kleptocracy of the United States

Because for some god forsaken reason leftists feel that everything has to be perfect and if it’s not it’s to be rejected. It’s performative. It’s why I will never forgive the leftists that didn’t vote because of Kamala’s position on Palestine. They threw pocs and lgbt to the wolves for their purity

Basically pioneer is a newer format with fewer sets and theoretically cheaper, also some of the bombs you were talking about age not in that format. It also has its own banlist. It’s the in between modern and standard.

Mastodon is worse, I once commented on a fan art of Destiny’s worst character that I loved their art but I hated how little was done with the character (in the game) and then this person made a whole passive aggressive thread about how you shouldn’t comment anything on other people’s fan art….

The implication being? That she enjoys reading? And just reads out of pretentious spite?
