RIP Vernor Vinge.

I've now got dates for closures/queries on all outstanding subs. All 42 of them. Had to run about a dozen of them down.

While Nunum may charge for certain subs, I didn't pay to sub either story today. Stating this in the interests of transparency. I do NOT pay to sub.

Today I learned... I've been in anthologies with 2 Star Trek writers. Richard Matheson & Norman Spinrad.

I enjoyed writing this, and I hope it shows.

This week's story at Androids & Dragons is a good one! You can read Ray Daley's tale of a customer service executive for a weapons manufacturer who may not be quite what he seems. #writingcommunity #speclist #sff androidsanddragons.substack.com/p/dear-trans...

And that is another contract signed & returned. You'll find who & what it's for when they give me permission to announce. Suffice to say it's something I've never done before. This is the only Merry Vaguemas I am still currently celebrating.

How to write a book. Have some people in a place at a time doing a thing which doesn't go right, then shit gets worse & the crazy old wizard/kind old wise woman suggests a thing to the young farm boy & handwavium occurs & everyone is happy with all their problems solved. THE END.

Lots of other writers will be asking for your vote in the Hugos. I don't care if you vote for my work or not. Reading it is enough for me. As for markets, buying it is enough. Awards are nice, but they don't buy food. If you want to vote for my stuff in the short story category, go ahead.

Hyphen Punk are open for subs. Very nice folks to work with, happy to have been pubbed by them. hyphenpunk.com/submissions/

Following up on my vague post. I've had a story accepted to a Best Of 2023 Anthology. Official announcement when we've done contracts. If you see it at the place, keep it to yourself for now. Merry Vaguemas to me!
