It was an immense amount of effort to get private LAN parties organised, but the key thing is that we did do it, because Quake multiplayer was like, a thousand times better. The replies trying to argue that Quake holds up worse today sound insane

This reminds me of when loads of people were angrily arguing in *favour* of YouTubers being paid by publishers to review games. We've got a generation coming up with no critical thinking skills at all, easy marks for exploitation.
