Interesting ideas to improve reproducibility of scientific studies, I wonder how to ensure that the notebooks will still run in 10, 20, or 30 years time, or if a time limit is required? Even a 10-year guaranteed repro would be a massive step forwards!

I wanted to read this promising history article tonight, but I don't have access (seriously!?!). I totally forgot there was this thing called not-open-access 2025. Now I'm sad. 2025, scientific publishing is still broken :( www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Interesting assessment of the quality of some hydrological models. It relates well to my earlier comment on Python packages for hydrology, where quality (and maintenance) is a clear issue that needs to be addressed (which probably equals more funding needed for research software development 😅)

Time to share the updated version of my attempt to list open-source Python packages for hydrology: github.com/raoulcollent... . I automated checking the quality and updates of packages. Quick take-away: many usefull packages available, but long-term maintenance is challenging.

In need to estimate evaporation? Check out PyEt, a Python package that includes ~20 methods, depending on the available input data (T, H, ..). We hope to make it easier to test methods, include uncertainty, & correct for CO2 effects when making CC projections: gmd.copernicus.org/articles/17/...

Anyone wants to do some MSc. thesis work on modelling this data with Pastas?! Very exciting dataset to try and analyze using time series models I think! I'd be happy to co-supervise!

Excited to share this paper led my Martin Vonk that was 3 years in the making. Designing new models is cool, but showing that they work through extensive benchmarking and represent physical systems well is perhaps more important. #hydrology #groundwater ngwa.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10....

We just released PyET 1.3.1 ! Large update with many fixes and Xarray support. Need to estimate potential #evaporation? Check it out! #hydrology #python #open-source

Working on open data and software for groundwater? Or have interesting thoughts about it? Why not submit an abstract to our session at the IAH Davos Conference this fall? www.iah2024davos.org#home

Need hydrological data for Switzerland, check out CAMELS-CH. Need groundwater data? Wait a few months 😅 (but stay tuned).

Good news for #Pastas! We received a small grant from the #NWO Open Science Fund to further develop the software with unit tests (Me), Docs (TU Delft), and visualization (Artesia). First time ever receiving public funding for direct development of Pastas.

Our article "Pastas: open source software for the analysis of groundwater time series" got published online in Groundwater! doi.org/10.1111/gwat... #Python #Opensource #Hydrology #Groundwater
