Unfortunately enough people voted for him to make him president. I still don't understand why, and why Republican members of Congress continue to support him. It's obvious to anyone with a brain that he's destroying our country. Now he's also aiding our enemies.

Beware the 2025 version of the Reichstag fire -- a dramatic event (think 9/11) that leads to a declaration of emergency. Troops in the streets "keeping them clear". MSM focused on the event, not the state of emergency, which is the real news. This was Putin's, and Hitler's, playbook.

Trump has moved from the destruction of our domestic institutions to the destruction of our standing in the world. Why can't Republicans see that this man is simply NOT LOYAL to this country?

toward freedom, equality, and—indeed—justice is inevitable.
But the arc of the moral universe is anything but. It does not bend towards justice on its own—no, it only does so because people pull it towards justice. It is an active exercise, not a passive one."

It's been clear to me since 2015 that Trump is a Russian op. People don't believe it because they are dangerously ignorant of history, a subject that American primary and secondary schools teach terribly.

One important goal is the Thatcherite privatization of key government functions: Social Security, Medicare, air traffic control, the postal service, shifting their control from the elected representatives of the people to an unelected oligarchy.

Some of the ways: fire and disperse career civil servants and demoralize the rest, irreparably destroy government programs and obstruct the operation of government such that ordinary people lose whatever confidence they have in it.

Reading further down in the story, the only specific allegation cited by the Times is that "[t]he chats also included explicit discussion of gender transition surgery". The headline makes it sound like sexual harassment. Not the first time NYT has used a misleading headline.

Sounds like it to me, but GPTZero says it was written by a human, as does Scribbr. The question is, what kind of human? Is writing like ChatGPT considered a talent now?

and CALL ON THE PEOPLE to come to Washington and make our voices heard. This is the time to act, while Congress still has power and all of us still have freedom of speech and assembly. If we do not act, we will lose our democracy, and the path to getting it back will be long, hard and uncertain.

If this happens, Palestinians in the occupied territories (both Gaza and the West Bank) must be granted Israeli citizenship with full voting rights, and the descendants of those displaced in 1948 granted the Right of Return. That would be a just one state solution.

Here in the NY suburbs people are gloating about the result but not considering how it was achieved. The tyrant will occasionally do something to appease the people (see: TikTok ban) but tyranny is still tyranny.
