This morning I saw my neighbor talking to her cat; it was obvious the poor women thought the cat understood her. When I got home I told my dog...we laughed a lot.

Just to clarify, a lot of Americans don’t understand what it means to lose democracy. But plenty of others do. That’s why in Europe, Scandinavia, and the Baltics, where democracy was destroyed and had to be rebuilt, it is at its most robust. Even under today’s threats, that’s our vision of hope.
