Let us all use this moment as another opportunity to raise our voices, to demand representation for all. Let us not forget that elected officials work for us. All of us. Carla Hayden, thank you for your dedication and service to our country. I was so proud to have you as my librarian.

When they come for libraries, they come for all of us. They come for our access to our past and the words we need to imagine the future. They come for the truth. They come to control. We can’t let this happen. A librarian should never be limited in their ability to welcome all of us

I am heartbroken at her termination from the position. Not just because she was the first woman to hold the post, or because she was the first Black woman, or because she was an actual librarian, which has not always been the case for holders of the position. I’m sad for us, as Americans.

She displayed our library’s treasure with pride. She showed us the wealth of knowledge and history that we can all access. She promoted inclusive literature and made sure that every one of us had a place in the library because the Library of Congress belongs to ALL of us

libraries are incredible: part 2 My library offers high quality, full color printing services for a fraction of the cost of print shops. Last week I made 36 copies of a 50 page document, saved hundreds of dollars, and was helped by the kindest people #forourlibraries #nationallibraryweek

All year long we write down little things that were fun small memories- quotes, little jokes, etc- and then we keep them in an envelope, no peeking until NYE and we read them aloud to end the year

I applied for a grant completely outside Reach Out and Read. I applied to two different organizations thinking I’d get neither but the first came through! The second is announced mid March 🤞Message me for more info!

The plan is to give out the books, track reading with a survey/chart audits, and then start book clubs/discussions with patients and parents, the grant will cover books and snacks. I’m also making a directory of books by topic so all providers can easily match the book to the patient who needs it.

School age kids and teens need books that represent them now more than ever, and they need to see reading as a joy I’ve been buying older kids books out of pocket UNTIL TODAY!! 🤩 This grant is going to fund some big book purchases, so comment below on the titles I need! #kidlit #weneeddiversebooks
