The point-of-sale exemption of sales tax is a huge administrative savings. But DOGE is not interested in that sort of thing.

I woke up yesterday to learn that PBS had scrubbed my work, the PBS Independent Lens Map of Gender Diverse Cultures, from their website, without warning. These folks are throwing us under the bus so fast, they're gonna throw out their backs doing it. badlylickedbear.substack.com/p/when-the-n...

I’m sick to the back teeth of what Republicans talk about in private. If that’s how they feel resign. Go home. As D.H. Lawrence once said in anger of his countrymen, they’re “a dithering palsied pulse-less lot.. they’ve got white of egg in their veins…it’s a marvel they can breed.”

hard to overstate that the people saying stuff like this are like...extremely sober individuals whose job it is to like weigh risk and who are not prone to hyperbole

To be clear, not just social media. For example, Trump’s campaign blanketed Spanish language TV and radio with lies and nonsense while Dems took the Hispanic vote for granted.

Inflation may have been an “excuse” but disinformation was rampant. On immigration 52% Trump voters believed the dogs & cats hoax. Hispanic/Black/WH men voted Trump in historic nos. because the right controls the social media space. It stokes fears, shapes opinion, shifts votes. That’s just a fact.

I’m sorry they treated you this way but not surprised. Did they cover the suicide in the paper in any way? Curious how they might absolve / omit the ones responsible.

It was always hard to imagine any decent paper hiring Jeff Poor whose troglodyte columns sound like crank right-wing Letters to the Editor. I can’t believe they’re going to the mat for that asshole. I’ve never liked Lagniappe, with its Chamber of Commerce, Spring Hill slant but now I’m tossing it.

Constitutionally, an EO is not binding in the same way as a law duly passed and funded by Congress. EOs can be challenged and struck down and often are if Congress does not enshrine them. Trump is doing massive end runs around Congress, even one as supine as this one is. Move fast, break things.

Which person was that? My money is on Jeff Poor.
