#TLSkyChat A7: I'm an author, and author visits drop *way* off in the summer. Are you involved with any book clubs - even virtually! - that authors could visit? I see so much reading joy being generated when I visit with students. How can we authors help spark this joy over the summer?

Things I did not have on my Bingo card: editing a book about WWII spies while quietly singing "Row, row, row your boat" to myself.

The L'Engle!! ...there aren't many time I'll get an XKCD comic before my husband does, but this will be one of them! (The one and only other time I can think of was back in the 2000's where the caption text had a joke about Renesmee 😂 )

Just under the headlines: "Being a spy is like watching paint dry." 😂

If you're looking for a fun twist on the usual summer reading lists, try this! You and your readers can mark off a box by reading in a blanket fort (how fun!) or reading past your bedtime 🙋‍♀️ booksforkids.substack.com?utm_source=n... #tlsky #kidlit #summerreading

Today is not Tuesday. Today is not Tuesday. Today is not Tuesday. Today is not Tuesday. Today is not Tuesday. Today is not Tuesday. Today is not Tuesday. Today is not Tuesday. Today is not Tuesday. Brought to you by a holiday weekend.

Coming April, 2026! Goodreads: tinyurl.com/4ym8wj9y Indiebound: tinyurl.com/yzees4jn Amzn: a.co/d/1NzpjEt A thrilling WWII middle-grade narrative nonfiction account of Operation Bodyguard, in which the Allied forces used spies and double agents to deceive the Nazis about their true plans for D-Day.

I've been working on a non-writing project all year! This is very much a learn-as-I-go hobby, and I had a big day yesterday - finally staring to quit the quilt! Is it messy? Yes! Do I love it? Yes 😊

There's a cover-shaped surprise coming next week!! 👀

Thank you so much!! I'm thrilled you loved this book! It's wild to think about what was going on in and around Mount St. Helens 44 years ago...

Might be a personal best for Number of Books Open While Drafting 😂 Thought I was leveling up when I got an actual book-holder-opener (a technical term 😉), but apparently one wasn’t enough.

Back from an absolutely incredible spring break!! Paris, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and Munich. So much walking 😂 I think after a week away, we're finally in shape for our European vacation!

Such a fantastic start to March is Reading Month! I managed to sneak in a bit of (very cold!) sightseeing in NYC. Then, it was off to Long Island for visits with Plainview-Old Bethpage SD. I had a great time talking with the students, and they asked some truly insightful questions!

I doubt this is how I look when I'm reading, and it's definitely not how I feel on the inside 😆👇👇

Awesome visit with @rebeccaefbarone.bsky.social ! We loved talking 🌋, #nonfiction, and research. MOUNTAIN OF FIRE is an amazing #5thgradebooks, super engaging and well-researched. 💕 #kidlit #WRAD #WorldReadAloudDay

Writers - who can write with music on?? How do you do it?! Any recommendations for integrating music while I write? Signed, A writer tired of silence

Thrilled that MOUNTAIN OF FIRE: THE ERUPTION AND SURVIVORS OF MOUNT ST. HELENS is a 2025 Texas Topaz selection!! Huge thanks to the Texas Library Association! Check out the entire list at txla.org/wp-content/u...
