Loved The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea. Babel was also good, but I was sobbing by the end. Her other book Yellow Face was good and less heartbreaking

Forget smiling for the camera. What about when they tell you to smile randomly. Like you’re buying groceries and the cashier says, “Hey. Smile!” I’m waiting for someone to reply, “Oh sorry. My relative died yesterday. Here.” And force a smile. Awkward.
