That’s wild! Are there citizen science programs there? I know there’s a big community science group in Mumbai.

Almost! Some scientists thought they were back in the day. But they’re actually Chondrophores.

I love the poem! This season was the first time I saw them and photographed them. (Also this season doesn't mean I've been shore walking for years, this year was my first) Here's one photo i shared last month.

I do not envy these service members. They’re being put in a wildly inappropriate position.

We're collected observations & seeing a pattern down in Texas. Similar to what we've been told by fishers in the region... Y'all: it's blue button season!!! Why? We don't yet know. But we're working on it! In the meantime, check out our field guide for more info: goseascience.org/field-guide/

Blue buttons are known as "neustonic" animals because they float right at the air-sea interface. There are many species that live at this boundary, likely influencing air-sea exchange in ways that we don't fully understand...

Wow, thank you so much for your time Riley! I totally agree with what your saying. It all feels so manufactured and I don’t want to contribute to that bs, but I do want to stand up against it. I’m going to check out the podcast

Wow, really surprised there's nothing in Washington DC

THAT'S part of the issue... this constant need to have an opinion about areas in which you know nothing. I'd rather point out THAT fact, instead of arguing whatever point they're trying to make directly

Like, not only do I not want to dance to the song they chose, I want to change the melody completely. Re-focus the argument on more critical areas, point out how hypocritical a lot of these folks are, how they'd never watched college swimming and now suddenly they're engaged? And maybe...

Ok, so would love your gut check on this: my instinct is to argue against the wedge, rather than engage with it. So far example, when people say "but what about sports," de-engage then directly pivot to something that has a bigger impact on lived experience...

Horrifying. Could someone please post a link to the original post?

It seems like there are much bigger issues w/ trans rights (like passports!!!) but sports is getting so much more attention. That said, maybe i'm just living under a rock and I should be better informed. I'm not trans, so I mostly try to listen and infer what matters form these kinds of spaces
