If Thessaloniki was built to Omaha density it would have about 130 thousand

For a fun comparison, if greater Omaha was built to Thessaloniki density while having the same land area it would have a population of almost 4.9 million

Suburban form is greatly different in both places. Much of suburban Omaha looks like the first image, while in suburban Thessaloniki it looks like the second image.

One fact that hurts Omaha and other American cities is the matter of sprawl and density. Thessaloniki fits its 800,000 people into an area of about 43 square miles, while Omaha's population of 820,000 takes up about 271 square miles, an over 6 fold increase in land area.

I feel like the Ukraine situation and just Russian hypernationalism could have been less bad if NATO had handled things differently

Once again I think that NATO became obsolete, which then ironically made NATO not obsolete anymore when Russia lost their shit
At the very least NATO should have tried to cooperate with immediate post-Soviet Russia more I think

If Russia was going to be a problem no matter what the west could have formed a new alliance

I'm just saying I feel like the continued existence of NATO kind of led to this situation where NATO is currently necessary
