Racism. White people never want to pay taxes. They think it's "giving my hard-earned money to a bunch of lazy n*****s."

Survivorship Bias meets Eugenics.
HG Wells described Napoleon's career as "Purely comic were it not caked over with human blood". I'm being reminded of this with Trusk/Mump.

"If it didn't happen to *me* it didn't happen." Just like last time. I even saw a "Faith Over Fear" shirt in the wild last week (just like last time).

I'm fond of saying "mosquitoes (or asbestos, or botulism) don't care if you're Republican or Democrat"

Yes. And at that certain place I mentioned? They fired all the people that do those studies/respond to outbreaks (EIS officers).
Commissioned Corps Officers are part of that. They get paid extra--but they can also get sent to Ghana or Bangladesh on 72 hours' notice.

The doctor has spent decades studying Black and Latino men's health, and the writer just. . .skips over all that. There's a couple stories in that at least. They very quickly bring the focus back to White men, where apparently it belongs

Good iced tea should be a dark brown. (It's the one thing, besides air conditioning, without which I could not continue to live in the American South.)

This is "I don't have any Black coworkers" on steroids, which is part and parcel of the steady Whitening of America's media outlets

Republicans spent *fifty years* getting us to this point and some social-media-brained people think we can turn this around in one week. We gotta be smart and put pressure where we can instead of useless yowling.
