Aspiring fantasy novelist. Hate Nazis. Liberal democracy is the worst system of government that has ever been tried, except for all the others. Suffering NY Giants fan. Brimstone main but I can't really aim.

yeah, man, sorry. that's just how democracy works.

Forcing members of Congress to stop engaging with their constituents on government time is actually really effective.

the reason that the american right are leaning *hard* into their immorality - which they themselves understand very clearly to be immoral - is, at the bottom of it, they don’t believe in *anything*.

There’s no evidence that Dan Caine will not be an effective chairman of the joint chiefs relative to his peers, but it is certainly saying something to the services that we are replacing a highly qualified black man with a white man who literally lacks the command qualifications for the job.

I’m going to again post my stance on Trump and fascism from my campaign site. A lot of local Dems seemed spooked by this kind of talk, told me to “fight the far right as a private citizen and don’t attract attention to us.” But how much better would Dems be polling if they were talking this way?

Coming around to the view that a certain kind of narcissist simply needs Musk to be a genius rather than a fraud, because they want to believe there’s a hereditary Brahmin class of accomplished, beautiful minds—and that they’re a part of that class.

Does indeed seem pretty bad! I'm pretty the fact that the media isn't calling it "a Nazi salute" has emboldened them to just run with it more as well.

every right wing party in the western world especially anglophone countries, probably has a groypheized staffer class at the moment, especially young ones

“That is why Trumpists are so focused on “ending DEI” in the federal workforce. They see anti-discrimination and inclusion as a ladder of upward mobility for people they do not believe should have one.”

Something is shifting. They are still breaking things and stealing things. And they will keep trying to break and to steal. But the propaganda magic around the oligarchical coup is fading. (1/2)

So they removed the black chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the middle of his 4-year tour, without cause, and they're seeking to replace him with a white **retired** Air Force three-star general who lacks the requisite experience as a service chief or combatant commander? Huh, how about that

It is insanely obvious that Elon Musk is illegally exercising the powers of a principal officer of the United States in violation of the appointments clause

I think the older Dems are genuinely good at managing a raucous caucus and moving hill creatures around to where they need to be. Very good, in Pelosi’s case. But that’s just not the game anymore, that’s not what the moment calls for. And what replacements they have groomed aren’t ready either.

Ah. Seems we are getting ready to watch for the smoke again, huh? Francis has been the best Pope in my life time to be sure and it'll be interesting to see which way the College decides to go whenever this next Election occurs. It'll be a defining moment for the Church.

Historically, the Russian/Soviet navy is known for 2 things 1. Dying horribly to cover other nations in glory 2. Nuclear submarine disasters

not the only thing but the reason you take pictures of Signal on your phone with a second device is a direct assault on the reasons Elon Musk made you use Signal in the first place, and I bet it’s driving Elon nuts that he can’t remember what else he said to her

This is 100%. Almost everything in the constitution is general or implied. The document literally says there's going to be a post office and congress is in charge of setting it up, deciding what it's rules are.

Literally just loudly and constantly hate Donald Trump and pretend to have a tolerance for middle aged women. You can be as left wing as you want. Just do those two things.

It's absolutely infuriating how this idea that Russia is a great power for tautological reasons is something believed by statesmen and world leaders

not just the government, but this government, specifically

i am finding it extremely satisfying to read all the stories of republican congresscritters trying to bluster through and getting chewed and booed the fuck out

this is not where you want to be in the opening stages of your project to bludgeon the American population into submission so you can destroy their government

If y'all think this is bad, wait until you find out about what family owns and finances Desert Tech

"Was [he promoted] because of his skin color? Or his skill? We’ll never know, but always doubt" is such a wild thing to write, like you are literally just saying "I am a racist"

This is very, very bad. Am working on a write-up, but let’s just say that firing military leaders for blatantly political reasons is wildly inappropriate; firing all the too lawyers is ominous; firing them all at the same time is a terrifying five-alarm fire

If the True Pacifist finale of Undertale doesn't get you hyped... man idk what sort of human you are. "You can't SAVE the game anymore. But maybe... ...you can SAVE something else."

Of the Chiefs of Staff, vice chiefs of staff, and judge advocates general of the three branches, Trump fired all the women and Black people.

Starting to become an anti-anti doomer tbh. “Why is everyone so scared when clearly subsection 137a, clause 5 of the walrus control act says Trump can’t…” I dunno, probably because we all have PTSD from not going a single day without thinking of the orange fuck in ten years. Cut me some slack.

So DOGE's 'wall of receipts' is riddled with errors, falsehoods and distortions. big shock. about what you'd expect from 6 tech bros dragged over from the strip club www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/u...

If you look at all the firings across the government over the last two weeks it's frequently been taken as a given that any black or woman official or officer is either a DEI hire or supports DEI and is summarily fired on that basis. Seems like the same model here.

The Republican Party has been the motivating force behind most visceral patriotism in my life, because their efforts to destroy the cosmopolitan liberal democracy in which I was born have made me realize that I am in fact quite attached to it, and willing to countenance a lot in it’s defense.
