One other thing is that I couldn't stand PowerShell. I switched to nushell a few years back and never looked back. I'm even considering trying it on macOS so that it remains a constant no matter what OS I'm using. Less context switching is always welcome to me.

I run into minor annoyances like \r\n newlines every now and then. And "path too long" errors. Those kind of things. But besides that nothing too notable.

I never went all out with WSL like one of my coworkers does. I only use WSL for one-off tasks when I can't be bothered to set up an infrequently used CLI tool or whatever on Windows. Or when I'm debugging stuff for Scala Native or GraalVM native-image.

Honestly not as bad as I was initially expecting it to be. I don't even feel it most of the time. But that's probably because I'm almost exclusively doing pure JVM work. The pain really sets in once I have to do anything native. Luckily that's rare for me.

It should be coming soon. I'm curious how I'll like it. The reason I switched off MacBook was because I had an absolutely terrible experience with the generation with that awful butterfly keyboard and touchpad. It broke multiple times for me. Anyway hoping for the best 😅

Yeah, that's actually impressive 😅

The state of Twitter is dire. I haven't been posting much lately but even just reading stuff on there is tiring. Like a person I follow will make an innocuous post and then the comments will be full of random angry comments. I know Twitter has always had a reputation but it was never this bad.

Well I hope it was at least backend logs and not frontend like my coworker 😅

but it's always fun discovering how each person does their print debugging. Everyone has their own unique flair 😅 Still better than one of my past coworkers who would write obscene stuff the longer their debugging session went on as the frustration set in 😬

Yeah exactly. Apparently this Russian company makes stationery products and decided to use Japanese for this notebook cover. And well, many mistakes were made... 😅 Still wondering how they managed that one though.

Hopefully I didn't return just in time for a megaquake though...

Anyway, I don't think long trips like this are for me. I think my upper limit is like 3 weeks. Ideally 2. I realized I just can't relax and feel comfortable when I'm away from home.

Yeah it does 😅 Their "CG style" characters have a certain look to them that's similar across most of the games. The in-game art has a lot more variety but it didn't really make sense to blend different art styles together so I didn't even try.

I remember everyone was saying "that's just Cloud and Tifa" at the time too so I removed both of them completely from the average and got this instead:

haha I created that image years ago. Surprised to see it in my feed. That was before all these AI tools were a thing so I had to manually line up the facial features and put them all in a blend tool. Cloud and Tifa represent 1/8 of the average in each picture.

Thanks. They're doing fine now all things considered. They were just visiting for a couple of days.

My parents are really shaken up. This could have been so much worse though. Just have to be glad it didn't escalate any further than it did.

Had my dad went along and revealed that he had a son, I'm not sure I would have seen him again. They would have tried extracting ransom money from me. Once they were in a more public place and got enough money to satisfy them, they stopped there.

I don't see anything in the settings to prevent this by reducing the scope of where Scala Steward searches. We might have to create a PR for it. I don't think it should be making changes to files outside of what sbt can see. Well, besides explicit scalafix migrations.

I found the model and a dealership in Japan because I was curious and apparently it starts at ¥2,266,000 (14,371 USD) 😮

Plus it's less costly in the sense that they'll be productive day one and we don't need to re-train them from scratch. I'm not sure I'll get a 2nd referral bonus from this but here's hoping 😂

I can imagine some people thinking "Well you left once before" and be all like "You're not loyal" or whatever, but I don't see it that way. I think it's fine to leave and see what else is out there. Then you come back with more experience and a fresh perspective.

For example, we have a extensive (and expensive 😅) test suite that's heavy on integration + E2E testing so being able to take something that takes 45 minutes in CI and reducing it to 15 minutes has been incredibly helpful for faster iteration/feedback.

I'd really like more people to try this plugin and report back. I'm curious how the usability and ease of setup is for other people with different CI environments and testing strategies. I think there should be a place for it for any project that has long-running tests.

But seriously, this sucks. My newer GPU is just out of warranty and it was damn expensive. Buying a new one right now (especially with the weak yen) is not something I want to do. I'm praying the defective component is something other than the GPU.

I've only had my mod enabled for a short while and I've encountered this much already. I don't expect perfection considering the size of the script, but just comparing with the Korean version, the Japanese version is not even close to it in terms of quality and accuracy 😢

Again, this is sarcasm but in Japanese "Just what we needed" sounds sincere which is confusing It's not true that Japanese doesn't have sarcasm (that's a common misconception) but _this style_ of sarcasm doesn't work if translated directly. You need to adjust it for it to work.
comment in response to post
"They run, you're dead" in English means "(If) they run, you're dead". That omitted "if" is not captured in the Japanese. So it just sounds strange, like two seemingly unrelated statements.

"As if I'd swallow a drop of that swill" turned into "I'd like to try some of that". Exactly the opposite meaning. Unfortunately there's a lot of these opposite dialogue options due to misunderstandings of certain English expressions and sarcasm.
