As an extensive and highly anxious planner this makes me itchy with stress at the thought. I hope you’re enjoying it though!

I’m generally pretty curious, but I’m definitely not coping with *gestures wildly at the world*

It’s such a balancing act between staying informed and staying mentally (mostly) healthy. Times are hard for people who care about people.

It’s an avalanche of awfulness. My heart breaks for vulnerable Americans, Ukrainians, Palestinians, and unnamed victims more widely from cancelled foreign aid and investment programs across the world. Just so utterly pointless and shitty.

*punches numbers into calculator* should be in around about…1933? That can’t be right.

I am DESPERATELY hoping that there’s action on this behind the scenes and the govt is just trying to keep it out of the news cycle, because this is so heartbreaking and awful.

It feels so surreal to go about my normal daily life while the rest of the world seems to be burning down. So much conflict and right-wing nutjobbery yet here I am sending memes to my colleagues about signing an email with ‘regards’ instead of ‘kind regards’ to show I’m cross at the recipient.

The La Trobe Reading Room at State Library Victoria. I used to volunteer there and I loved starting my shift at the World of the Book exhibition on Lvl 4 on a grey wintry day, when I could look down at the silent, deserted panopticon with the green lamps glowing softly.

It breaks my heart how utterly mean it is. Designed to pander to bigots and the ignorant while harming vulnerable people.

It’s worth storing away as a trivia fact that Truss was the last British PM to serve under QEII.

January has somehow been about 3 months long. The news around the world feels very much like the tense music in a horror film that builds up when you know something bad is going to happen but you still get surprised when it does.

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” - George Orwell in Nineteen Eighty-Four. Much like the Handmaid’s Tale, it was supposed to be a warning, not an instruction manual.

He’s no Angel, he might Feel like doing Somethin’ Stupid and decide to Rule the World. On the other hand, he might decide to be a Better Man and take a turn for the better, Back for Good you might say, so he has No Regrets when he meets his Supreme fate.

I heard Twiggy Forrest a while back on ABC Melb saying that if the financial case for nuclear energy stacked up he would invest, but it doesn’t so he won’t. If even Twiggy thinks it’s not worth it…

I heard one where the Queen went to a bakery in a village near Sandringham to buy Phillip some cakes. An older women in there said jovially to Her Maj, “Gosh, you look just like the Queen!” HR responded, “How very reassuring!”

This is how new religions started. Temples shall form, known as Hogwarts. Communion is strips of bacon, and the statues and paintings all depict a mammoth öat-seeking porcine figure, with a halöat.

It reminded me of the Reddit blackout when my little Melbourne community fled to AussieZone. Throughout the day we joyously greeted each familiar accountname who made it to the new platform. That's a bit how I feel migrating here and getting a little endorphin buzz when an account name is present.
