Oh foo. The Audacity team has replaced Shift-Space as the loop command with a loop button - which only works once. Move the marked area and it does nothing. Someone could at least test things before they release it.

When I got my new ID card, the police got the print of another finger. But I had to rub it on my forehead to make it greasy enough to register on their reader. So I guess I could commit crimes without leaving prints as my fingers are too dry...

Hey, @vocalfry.bsky.social, while you're on my Bandcamp page (Thank you!!!), this live gig using voice and loopers might be in your wheelhouse. renekita.bandcamp.com/album/rest-i...

I did a second symphony. I almost feel like a real composer. Whee! :) renekita.bandcamp.com/album/rustik...

"Mr. Merritt and Mr. Norden are here to witness your demonstration of the vibrator." I really don't need Netflix. www.youtube.com/watch?v=55CE...

The Junkers, northern Germany's nobles who started WWI, had an induction ceremony to their student lodges: Two guys stand a metre apart and slice each other's cheeks with a sabre. If you didn't make a sound, you were admitted. That's why they all had gruesome facial scars.

Let's see, Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco is a door stopper printed in a tiny font. It has 160,000 words. Alan Moore's Jerusalem is one million words... Then again, the Bible is 800,000 words, so if they print it on Bible paper, it won't be a foot thick.

Perhaps Finns are so cute and cuddly because they grew up reading Moomins, Rasmus Nalle and Tintin - while the rest of us grew up on Marvel comics. Bang! Zapow! Buddhabuddhabuddha! Kerrrrip!

There have been six different comics characters named Captain Marvel. Here's one of them in a movie serial. It's reasonably entertaining. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSse...

Planet Mu is the world's greatest record label - to put it mildly.

I am 60 and unemployed - or let's say I'm very busy making art and music but unpaid. Youtube thinks I run a business. I get ads about logistics, book keeping, human resources management and various industries. Apparently their data collection has gone badly awry. Fun.

"The gold exists for just a tiny fraction of a second." Aww shucks. And here I thought the LHC would finally pay for itself.

Very funny. I'm trying to do the very simplest of things in Reaper: Mark piece of track, copy and paste into other track. Ctrl-C copies some random things. Right click and pick "Copy selected area of items" (no shortcut) appears to work. I'm going back to Audacity. It does everything I need.

An orchestral harp has SEVEN pedals! So that's why you need an academy to understand that thing. It's not just about going pling plong on the strings.

how many wikipedia editors does it take to change a light bulb? so far 3439 different people have contributed to the "incandescent light bulb" article but it's not done being changed yet so who knows

i must have been on some serious something to have made this 😆 www.youtube.com/watch?v=juVy...

Ornette Coleman - Of Human Feelings. Funky free jazz. I have this on vinyl, but haven't owned a vinyl player in decades. Just as good as I remembered. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc2w...

Romanthony is a genius! Best dance music I've heard in a long while. www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EoO...

Finns have a tendency of pronouncing foreign words like they are spelled (even when they know how it really goes). So Judge Dredd becomes Yoo d guh dredd. Oh, and it's snowing on May Day eve, the year's biggest party night. Well, I planned to stay home anyway.

My memory isn't what it used to be, so I wish I would fill its waning capacity with the names of interesting musicians instead of cricketers. Blah. Happily I never close tabs. So here's some Moroccan sounds by (I check page twice) Ahmed Essyad. subrosalabel.bandcamp.com/album/morocc...

NOTHING LEFT BUT THIS is my Blackened Dungeon Synth project. Still a couple tapes and CDrs left of the debut album (also available as a d/l for ppl outside the UK). New NLBT stuff coming soon-ish. #dungeon #dungeonsynth #metal #blackmetal #synth #blackened kekw.bandcamp.com/album/nothin...

George Pérez's run as writer of the Silver Surfer is hilarious. The prose is purple to the breaking point. The Surfer gets sliced into bits, which are sold at auction. Yes, they sell his arse.

Stories from the 'golden age' of science fiction, back when nobody complained about plausibility. www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnY1...

Our phones have more processing power than a supercomputer from the 70s. And yet, nobody uses them to simulate nuclear bomb explosions.

What can I say. I love nonsensical movies. media4.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2l...

I want to be Islam Chipsy! Hmm, maybe if I set up my drum machine to hysterical rhythms and work hard on my synth... nah. Not likely. Still, worth trying. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpGY...

There's a Finnish band called Sähkökitarakvartetti, four electric guitar players who play contemporary music. As usual, I went "Hey, I wanna do that, too!" So I recorded four tracks and overlaid them. Of course the result was louder and more chaotic. renekita.bandcamp.com/album/electr...

Another couple of years of this and the Fall of Civilizations podcast will do an episode about the USA. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghmj...

Apparently I'm now brushing my teeth for a living: I bought a tube of Pepsodent Professional toothpaste. Is there some technique that brings higher wages?

Soundcloud is where I put one-off tracks. Looking at the stats, I find that one person has gotten addicted to them. They play them a hundred times per week. Weird but pleasing. soundcloud.com/rene-kita
