We have some pollsters here. It’s unprintable what they say about Enten in private.

Ocasio-Cortez is going to put him in suitcases under the BQE.

one of the greatest examples of human solidarity is the wordless exchange between a parent and another parent whose child is having a public meltdown

“they were polite to me so they can’t be a monster” is the most consistent failure of elite society

Trump tried to bury this story on a Friday night, but it’s extremely important: He’s planning to take land on the border controlled by the Dept. of Interior and sign it over to Dept. of Defense so migrants “would have trespassed on a military installation,” resulting in harsher punishment.

Commerce Sec Lutnick promised Chinese jobs "screwing in little, little screws to make iPhones” would be moved here. Treasury Sec Bessent said American dream was not cheap "flatscreens" And yet here we are: first China tariff exemptions are for iPhones & flatscreens www.cnbc.com/2025/04/12/t...

You gotta pay attention, but this is really good. h/t @neilirwin.bsky.social “Any country other than the US precipitously raising and lowering tariffs, gutting its Internal Revenue Service and nonchalantly considering territorial grabs would have seen smoking-hot capital flight months ago.”

LMAAOOOOOOO

YOU MOTHERFUCKER I WAS LITERALLY 15 MINUTES AWAY FROM PUBLISHING AN ARTICLE NOW I HAVE TO RUN THE ANALYSIS ALL OVER AGAIN TOOK YOU TEN DAYS TO REMEMBER WHAT A SMARTPHONE WAS AND GIVE TIM APPLE HIS BRIBERY EXEMPTION, MEANWHILE YOU STILL HAVEN'T FUCKING EXEMPTED BANANAS

Oh how shocked I am to find out Howard Lutnick lied to me and we won't actually be making iPhones in America! Think of that! Howard Lutnick! Just going on TV and lying. What ARE the chances?

Trump exempting computers & phones from the tariffs today means that Chinese-made laptops now have lower tariffs than European Cars, Mexican Steel, & Canadian Lumber. Also means Vietnamese-made laptops have a lower tariff than Ethiopian coffee, Indian tea, & Guatemalan bananas

There are a lot of ways to explain why rising bond yields in this economic environment, but if you don't know anything about economics, think of it as your father talking about a sudden, strange ache in his left shoulder during Thanksgiving.

Per a source, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, who has required that he approve all contracts over certain thresholds personally, has over 5000 review requests on his desk. Apparently he approves around 15/day.

I see we've reached the "don't worry, the Finance Minister is a Western-educated former fund manager" stage of the emerging market crisis playbook. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

America’s largest newspaper chain, Gannett, will no longer publish demographic and diversity data about its workforce, and has revamped its corporate site to remove mentions of diversity. Cited Trump’s EO on DEI www.niemanlab.org/2025/04/gann...

Thank you @crampell.bsky.social for this scathing piece... Why are Democrats pulling their punches on Trump’s disastrous trade war? www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

"I maintain mechs" "Cool, what's that look like?"

Happy to help. Nothing happened. Everyone pretended like it didn't happen. It's almost entirely gone. Horizon World somehow exists. $45bn basically disappeared into a black hole owed to "lack of a clear vision and mismanagement." Who knows what happened! finance.yahoo.com/news/metas-r...

this remains the most baffling story in tech in the last decade yes, salaries are high yes, hardware is expensive $45 billion is still an utterly staggering cash burn and I am desperate to get a breakdown of exactly where it went

Honestly I just hate how angry I am these days. It's totally justifiable--these people are fucking monsters (and I'm certainly not policing anyone else's anger). But I hate it, I hate that feeling. I've spent so much of my life trying to get rid of anger. It's awful to be living with it again.

One weird thing about all of these awesome federal programs getting gutted out of existence is that I now know they used to exist. That’s sort of nice, I guess. It’s like learning about an animal that went extinct last Tuesday.

even if we throw these people out of power the enduring legacy of Trump is that nobody can ever again trust the US government to keep a promise, and that will come back to bite us over and over again what a shameful thing this is

Lithuania pledged €30M in new military aid to Ukraine. €20M will go to the Czech-led artillery shells initiative (on top of €13M already provided), €7M for anti-drone rifles & short-range EW, and the rest through Lithuania’s demining coalition, set to train & equip 7 Ukrainian battalions by 2025.

🇳🇴 Norway pledges 10B NOK (~$920M) in 2025 to train & equip a Ukrainian brigade, working with Nordic & Baltic partners under Ukrainian request. The aid includes ammo, gear, & training — tailored "building blocks" to reinforce existing brigades. www.regjeringen.no/en/aktuelt/n...

⚠️ Around 200 Chinese mercenaries are fighting alongside Russian forces in Ukraine, per Reuters. US officials say they’re poorly trained & have minimal impact. Meanwhile, Chinese officers—approved by Beijing—have been observing the war from behind Russian lines. www.reuters.com/world/chines...

Recent destruction of Russian heavy equipment. "Since the start of 2025, Russian losses in personnel have exceeded 140,000," Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi added to the footage.

An old man with medals is talking about how the "Russian peace" must be defended. But in three years of full-scale war, the Russians have launched 67,000 guided aerial bombs at Ukraine, thousands of missiles of various types, and over 22,000 Shahed drones. What does Russian peace protect?

dogs, man.

the man literally bought one of the most influential social media companies in the country for $44 billion and converted it into a right wing propaganda platform

Fifteen down to zero

Dr. Peter Marks, recently pushed out of FDA, told us he believes the measles outbreak is being underreported. He says the case count is likely 3-7x higher, saying we could actually have as many as 3,000 cases. Yesterday, Sec'y Kennedy said we had 600+ cases and the outbreak was under control.

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you." - President Lyndon B. Johnson
