Starting this week, we’ll all pay more at the store because of the Trump tariffs, even while he’s finalizing a multi-trillion-dollar tax cut for the wealthy. All the bluster is meant to get us talking about literally anything else.

Would have been Jack Lemmon’s hundredth birthday today. Not just one of the great actors, but also possessor of the best gravestone in existence.

Today is Imbolc, an ancient Celtic festival marking the beginning of Spring, and the return of both light and life to Scotland. Wouldn't this be the perfect time of year to highlight Glasgow's fantastic architecture by lighting up as much of it as possible? Cont./ #glasgow #architecture #imbolc

Today Greater Manchester makes history🚍 They've finally finished the process of taking all the region's buses back into public control, which began in 2017👏 All bus fares are now £2, allowing you to change routes as many times as you need within an hour🪙 We need this in Strathclyde now!

Happy 1st of December. Today, a 🧵 of Scottish women worthy of statues. Statues memorialise in a specific way. They honour achievement. First, Jennie Lee, MP and founder of the Open University. The work she did as Arts Minister was transformative. Also = Mrs Aneurin Bevan. /1

The Glasgow Bell has been a real treat since it launched. @danigaravelli.bsky.social's piece on politicised boundaries and deprivation is very close to home for me, literally. Should be dry as dust, but made rich and real through people's lived experience www.glasgowbell.co.uk/should-glasg...

Joy can help us heal & feel better. It's not about ignoring life's problems or being uncaring. Instead, it's about accepting challenges & learning to face them with a right mindset. Joy can help us recover in a natural way that affects all parts of our lives. From the Yukon, I'm sending good vibes.❤️

I will always be there for the story of what happened when Don Was introduced Iggy Pop to Leonard Cohen. (From Bob Mehr’s fascinating interview of Don Was in a 2022 edition of Mojo.)
