i looked for some at target a little bit ago, but the shelf was empty, so i was like oh well nbd. when i got in line, i heard the ppl behind me go "wow i cant believe we found all of the new red bull!" and i glance back and their basket was FULL of singles and 4-packs. mfs are scalping energy drinks

it definitely depends. in recent years people have gotten a lot more lax with their rules, but it used to be a warzone. some artists dgaf what happens to their species and let people go nuts, while others defend it with their life, it can definitely get crazy just like any internet niche

they usually get really pissy but unless they have an actual real legal copyright (unlikely) they cant do anything except be angry on the internet about it

so like imagine if wolves weren't a real animal. someone came up with the idea for the wolf species themselves, and people who wanted to make wolf characters had to pay the person who invented wolves, either to design their own or have one made for them depending on the inventor's rules.
