Osprey that flew close to the @harbourbirds.bsky.social Spring Safari boat this morning. Ring not visible or readable on my photos but others did better and identified him as our translocated male 374 from 2021! Great to have him back in the area again.

Stunning Spring Safari Cruise this morning. Great to see 2021 translocated male Osprey 374 returning to the harbour. Also 1 Pink-footed Goose at Swineham, 5 LR Plover, Forster’s Tern fishing in Wareham Channel, 3 Marsh Harrier and 5 Red Kite. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social @birdguides.bsky.social

An Osprey was over the Dorset Way at Oakdale approx. 12:25 being mobbed by Gulls. It came up from the S before catching the thermals then drifted off high NW in the direction of Gravel Hill/Broadstone. @harbourbirds.bsky.social

Poole peregrines this morning....incubation continues. Here the male is incubating and the female (well fed) is standing over.

The unringed osprey that flew right overhead at the new holten heath path just as I was leaving, never seen me drop the bag to yank the camera back out so quickly. Can anyone tell if this is beaky or someone new? @harbourbirds.bsky.social @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social 🪶

Indonesia: Mount Marapi erupted on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 16:04 WIB. The height of the eruption column was observed to be ± 1000 m above the peak (± 3891 m above sea level).

Eruption/activity update - The eruption north of Grindavík has decreased a lot or even paused, with little activity visible on webcams and recent drone flights. However, seismic activity continues. Seismic activity has subsided in the southern part of the magma tunnel, near Grindavík, but activ...

No joy with the Ospreys nor White-tailed Eagles down Rockley Park this morning but I did get this stunning Red Kite fly over. @harbourbirds.bsky.social

#Svartsengi #volcano (Reykjanes peninsula): new eruption approaches Grindavík town as fissure increases south - The eruption is getting dangerously close to Grindavík, as the eruptive fissure has extended to the south. A new fissure opened a few hundred meters along the magmatic dike's directio...

Incubation will have started at the Poole peregrines nest site.....female and male on the nest tray virtually constantly now. Can't / wont be able to see eggs unfortunately as the camera had to go so far away from the nest tray.

The death toll of the horrible earthquake in Myanmar has reached 1,644 people. 3,408 more are injured - these are the most recent numbers. (Gerashchenko)

⚒️ 🧪 A catastrophic M7.7 earthquake struck Myanmar today, rupturing ~200 km of the strike-slip Sagaing Fault. The USGS PAGER alert is red, indicating severe damage and many fatalities. Impacts extend from Myanmar into neighboring countries, including Thailand. What do we know so far?

Partial eclipse currently going on

Today's M7.7 earthquake in Mandalay, Burma looks to be about as bad as it gets. Likely thousands dead with losses up to 30% of national GDP. earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/...

Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, has been declared a disaster area following a strong earthquake in neighbouring Myanmar. https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2989931/quake-hit-bangkok-declared-disaster-area.

A comparison of the Sagaing fault map that shows historic earthquake rupture lengths with the USGS slip model of today’s M7.7 #earthquake in Myanmar suggests today’s event may have ruptured the northern half of the 1839 earthquake fault patch. ⚒️🧪
