Yes! Just starting to put my school librarian PLN life back together after the deteriorating of X. So glad to see many of us have found each other again!

Good! Fantasy is work for me too. But I'm an adventure girl and a badass main character is always a plus. Looking forward to it!

How was it? I brought the print version home with me for break.

This is what I was going to suggest, too. Not exhaustive - only books with AR tests - but it's something.

Can you redo the link? It says page not found. Also: Yes, I let my middle school students take books home over the summer.

I wrote about this recently, too, for Publishers Weekly. Things have not gotten any better and my middle school students are reading less and less. Soon, there will be no teens reading YA - we will lose them in the middle. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

Well, the doc is a few years down the road, but the topic is certainly a possibility. 😇 I appreciate the encouragement!

Agreed. And those that are connected, even in minute ways, may be less likely to leave when the going gets tough. I would love to see a study done on the correlation between attrition and having a supportive librarian community, excluding the data of those that leave due to extenuating issues.

I came across the info from this Publishers Weekly article in February. www.publishersweekly.com/pw/by-topic/...

I never really thought about this before, but you're exactly right. I read a lot of middle grade and YA. I can't recall one book I've read where the character has anxiety or depression and is on medication OR goes to a therapist. This is really a missed opportunity for authors. Kids need this rep!

Yep, it's the panicking part that's doing me in right now. Trying to do my breathing routines and remembering everything will be ok, but the wild part of Anxiety Brain likes to tell me scary things. Hoping my journey is similar to yours!

Thank you! I think it's just the spiraling anxiety of everything that can go wrong that's making my heart race no matter what I do. I have a few high risk factors too so they don't help either. Glad to know you made it to the other side ok!

YES. I feel like I can breathe.

Yep, just been through that, too! My mantra was, it's going to be fine. Probably not my best, but fine.

Let's do it.
