Dear god the job ages you.

“Former Alberta infrastructure minister Peter Guthrie is barred from attending UCP caucus meetings following his recent abrupt resignation, as part of a 30-day probation period” Smith sending a strong message against speaking out… #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Yeah, but really, who’d notice? Guthrie holds the distinction of being #Airdrie’s second-most useless MLA. #ableg

Oh, Cremona. Never change. #ableg

(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

Medicaid is not for sale. NASA is not for sale. The Post Office is not for sale. America is not for sale. We have an obligation to resist kings. We outnumber them. And they can be overwhelmed.

🗣️ @aoc.bsky.social out fighting for the people & federal workers: “Every day our job is to wake up and say ‘what can I do today?’ — There is no act too small. Every action matters.” 🇺🇸

“The CPC chose to go down the path of division and misinformation, taking cues from the Trump playbook. It’s too late to pretend they give a shit about national unity.”

lol, pretty rich coming from Scheer, who’s constantly managed to fail upwards. I mean, the guy got caught padding his resume about being an “insurance broker;” tried to hide his US citizenship; and was ousted as CPC leader for taking party funds for his kids’ private school fees.

The only reason people like Kennedy oppose Gardasil is misogyny. They truly believe sex should have dire consequences for women and that includes cervical cancer.

Pfft, Peter Guthrie has been a pretty enthusiastic cheerleader of what's been happening with the UCP, up to this point. He doesn't get a pass, now. #abpoli #ableg

This is fascism.

“Conservatives have consistently shown themselves to be Trump apologists. If you love our country, don’t side with these traitors.”

Andrew Coyne offers an explanation for why the once ascendant Conservatives are oddly muted in the face of the White House’s attacks: they agree with him.

Canada is a country worth fighting for against anyone who’d roll up and sock us in the kisser, goddamn them. I will still stand up for my country and our right to decide for ourselves how we want to live. www.davidmoscrop.com/p/confession...

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world. Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

Mark Carney has the Conservatives worried. He should. After all, the best they can do so far is complain that he cares too much about climate change. #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2025/01/28/o...

Jagmeet Singh has painted his party into a very, very dangerous corner. They might not have a way out. #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2025/01/29/o...

“‘are they prepared to sacrifice a multi-billion-dollar food industry for a coal mine?’” With southern Alberta known as the province’s heart of agriculture, roughly $14 billion in products are exported every year” #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/leth...

That felon guy, who started the ban on TikTok in 2020, is now going to “save” TikTok. People are so gullible! Those of us who are not are SO COOKED!

"'Patriot' sometimes reads like a thriller in which the narrative opens with 'If you’re reading this, I’m already dead.'" And so he is, but he speaks from beyond the grave, and we should listen. Navalny's posthumous memoir:

“Canada needs an ambitious, optimistic view of the future and Pierre Poilievre is not offering that. Stopping the fight against climate change doesn’t make sense. Attacking journalists, the CBC, institutions — that’s not what Canada needs in this moment.”

“Many on social media would have you believe that kindness and decency are a weakness, and cruelty is a strength. In reality, it’s the other way around. Empathy is an admirable trait. This is the Canada I know.”

The guy who says he’ll “put Canada first” still doesn’t have his security clearance. Party before country (or how to gaslight an entire nation)

So what are the odds of conservative dudes scraping off the “F*CK TRUDEAU” and “CANADIAN PATRIOT” flag stickers off their trucks, to replace them with annexationist ones, without a hint of irony or self-awareness? 🤔

“Hate is Pierre Poilievre’s currency. From the ‘F*ck Trudeau’ troglodytes at the Freedumb Convoy to antisemitic conspiracy theories, Poilievre has never been shy to capitalize on hate to advance his career.” An editorial by @taylornoakes.bsky.social.

For the record, I covered the Electoral Reform committee hearings in one of my first journalism jobs and the experts were overwhelmingly in favour of mixed member proportional representation. Trudeau made it clear just now that his regret is that our system wasn't changed to a *ranked ballot.*

Yeah I do think there's a strong argument to be made that if it's antidemocratic to prorogue right now, it's also antidemocratic to force Canadians into an election where they don't even know the name of who is leading one of the main parties they might vote for!
