Guy who doesn’t even respond to the mothers of his children: reply to my email or you’re fired

Lefties when Green push for better Medicare funding/bulk billing for GPs: visionary, masterful gambit! Lefties when Labor make an election commitment for better Medicare funding/bulk billing for GPs: ooh, there’s an election coming up, they’re stealing ideas, let’s see if they actually deliver.

🌈 Great peaceful turnout in Auckland’s Albert Park this afternoon for the Defying Destiny stand. Seems Brian Tamaki & his Man Up thugs were too scared to face the big scary rainbow community & their allies today. *image courtesy @kyledchurch.bsky.social

Strange to see Labor set the agenda for once. They’ve been digging into Dutton for being against Medicare for long enough that now they’ve announced more funding for it, Dutton has to support it or be proven to be against it. What is this, Labor on the front foot? I’m not used to that.

And I am an ally. If you are too, let the world know.

I know there’ll inevitably be cynicism about “they’re in government now, why not put billions into bulk billing now?” or “why didn’t they do it sooner?” or “they’re clearly worried about losing votes to the Greens.” I’m just celebrating good policy. I’m done with the cynicism, just champion good!

THIS is the sort of thing you’re supposed to spend billions on.

Every year.

Watching some #DoctorWho with my boy. We’re up to Doomsday. He loves Billie Piper and Rose, I don’t know how he’s going to handle the end of the episode.

Thank you, Janet Mills. This is how all our elected officials everywhere should be confronting Trump's authoritarian "we are the law" sentiment. Head on.

Wait till someone tells them how much public money Peter Dutton is planning to bet on nuclear power stations…

Loooved that!

Watching this with my boy, first time for the both of us. I love these films, they’re great! My son has more of an encyclopaedic knowledge of Sonic and co than I do, but these are fun.

This was a great interview! I stand by my view that pretty much all politicians are better in long-form conversations than the snippets that can only happen during press conferences. Even if you disagree with them, or you can hear the rehearsed answers. podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/i...

One of the few good things Biden did last year.

It’s the through line of his entire career, so can we be surprised?

😮😍

Spoilers for a cameo in Captain America: Brave New World. . . . . . I love Bucky’s cameo, the entire scene was great. Shot like the scene from The Winter Soldier with Nick Fury in hospital, and equal parts poignant and humorous. Also, I like Bucky’s “I love you, man” at the end.

No, but if you’re looking for one, I am aware of a guy you work with that was indicted four times and convicted of thirty-four felonies.

Always a pleasure catching up with my friend Zack Snyder, consummate filmmaker (and a doubly consummate storyteller!)

I love that these two can be perfectly normal and get on like perfectly normal people, but extremist fans despise one of them for apparently killing Superman (with a single trailer).

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Who found Richard Marles a spine?

“Most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally evil, but by people being fundamentally people.” - Sir Terry Pratchett.

I need some comfort reading.

Justin Trudeau going out on a high, domestically. Between uniting Canada in the face of Trump and his tariffs - to the point that interprovincial trading boarders are being reaccessed and maybe removed - and this, good stuff. Foreign policy wise, defending Israeli war crimes, he can get stuffed.

Flashback to one of my favourite moments of our podcast, during our review of #LordoftheRingsTheRingsofPower season one (which I wasn’t the biggest fan of, but season 2 was pretty epic). Full episode here: podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/a... #LotR #TheRingsofPower #TheLordofTheRings

The AJA, the same organisation responsible for distributing the doctored Opera House chant video, has been relentlessly spreading vile, divisive, and racist disinformation every single day—without consequence. Despite their ongoing campaign of deceit and harm, they have yet to be held accountable.

I follow French politics a lot, as many of you know. Any effort for mass layoffs of public sector employees there would create such huge strikes and marches, the level of disruption and paralysis would be biblical.

FFS Australia we call it Maths not Math! Stop becoming America!

Okay, what is it with this week’s surge of right wing politicians and political commentators being obsessed with their imagined downfall of “western civilisation”?

Captain America Brave New World is good. I don’t normal rate films out of 10, but to sum up my views quickly, saying ‘a solid 7/10’ does the job. Good overall, not flawless, and I’m open to accept people’s constructive criticisms (not the bigoted “I don’t like a black Captain America” nonsense).

The Liberal/National Coalition: the Labor Party spends too much. Also the LNP: we want to spend 600 BILLION dollars. 🙃

Hey siri … define self fulfilling.

America be like

After seeing it again, I feel I can be a bit more specific. The CGI most of the time is passable - and necessary when it’s a dog fight with fighter jets and Captain America - but I stand by my criticism of the lack of location shooting for the emotional beat after the final battle. 1/2

Getting my car serviced today, filling in time with round two of Captain America. Turns out mid morning on a Wednesday ain’t too busy. 😂

We’re over represented in prisons which we die in, and the political conversation about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is that the major opposition don’t want to stand in front of our flags and think that money shouldn’t be spent on Welcome to Country ceremonies. Welcome to Australia.
