10.2.16 "I am now in the trenches and I have just spent a very bad night. Last night when I arrived I did my patrol (in no mans land) and I was met with rifle shots by the Boches. I was forced to stay at least ½ hour flat on my stomach in the snow and not move or they would shoot....
