Two really good teams playing a really good game refereed by a guy who is either witnessing his first ever football match or else just as the IQ of a dustbin.

There are things Arsenal can learn for the second leg and it’s not over by any means but PSG the best team we’ve played this season by absolute miles.

my starting lineup for the second leg against lyon. id start dvd and lotte if they were fit :/

Think we actually saw today that the gap between Lyon and Arsenal isn't much. But their frontline is both a) a lot more dynamic and clinical and b) forced us to play differently because of the pace. Highlights what we need.

How are Villa simultaneously sitting so deep (Emery gonna Emery) but also getting ripped apart on the counter?

Honestly just does my head in. Serious foul play is one of the few flawless and totally acceptable ways to use VAR and they just don’t bother. Player safety a total non issue for PGMOL but trivial nonsense is fussed over endlessly. Really badly just want Webb to go.

Arsenal have scored 26 goals in 9 games at Emirates Stadium this season. Five games have ended in a 4(+)-0 scoreline. Bring on Real Madrid.

this is the game where it became absolutely apparent that KCC is the first name on the team sheet in midfield

Two of the most counterintuitive pieces of Arsenal (W) data for this season is that Mariona wins more tackles than any other player and Katie McCabe has more shot creating actions than anyone else.

Common sense applied, which is very welcome. The 'Well actually it is a red card, Michael Oliver is our best referee' crowd got some egg on their faces this evening.

Think my 'cold light of day' assessment of today is that a draw probably would have been the fairest result but that Chelsea were able to make more attacking changes from the bench than Arsenal, who finished the game with Russo on the wing. Lauren James made the intervention that won the game.

arsenal are the biggest club in women's football. why do they so rarely act (or play) like it? www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Five years ago I went to Hale End to observe a new initiative where the best of the academy girls were parachuted in to train with the boys to extend their challenge. One of those two 13 year old girls is now England u17 captain and just signed her first pro contract. Well done Laila Harbert! 🔥

Katie McCabe very underrated footballer. In the first part of Slegers interim charge she was asked to push right up and be a fifth attacker. With Little and Walti out she’s been asked to sit in a little more and support the midfield. Has done both no problem.

I would say what this illustrates, given this game totally overlaps with the men's game, is there is a totally different / new audience to tap into when you invest time and resource into promoting your women's team. You can essentially create a whole new fanbase from people not invested in 'broso'
