Political resistance is led by feminists and the anti-mining movement, which is supported by the Catholic Church. While Bukele has managed to suppress dissent, the Catholic Church remains powerful, as history has shown us from the 1960s when resistance originated from faithful Catholics.

In my view, Bukele's golden age is coming to an end, primarily due to his inability to improve El Salvador's economy. Domestically, his strengths remain in security repression, which is why he has sought to profit from the Salvadoran prison system where people are tortured.
