Most people who deny Climate change don't really believe the climate isn't changing. They just deny that anything should be done about it if it interferes with their accumulation of unjustified wealth, and deny that they should give a shit about those who'll suffer.

Government work has traditionally been rewarded by long term stability instead of tech bro salaries and stock windfalls. Musk's ideas of efficiency kill the trust and goodwill required for that deal to work and will cost more when they realise they have to re-hire.

It should be possible to separate scientific consensus from the politics of how to react to it. But the right know it's easier to deny the science than to defend their policy responses - that put short-term profiteering and self interest of already wealthy over the health and survival of all humans.
