More than 500 UK-based media professionals, including broadcaster Gary Lineker and actor Miriam Margolyes, have condemned the BBC’s decision to remove a documentary about Gaza from the station’s iPlayer.

My take on the latest greyhound injuries stats - 1 in 8 racing greyhounds injured in 2024. About 1 in 15 killed. The State subsidised the sport with €19.8m in funding last year: Time to re-evaluate exactly what greyhound racing contributes to Irish life www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...

There's no reason for the Irish Government to sign us up to this definition of antisemitism. #Spéirgorm #Spéirghorm : my.uplift.ie/petitions/re...

Knife crime presents a very real threat to public safety. People are asking why is it that those arrested for very serious offences are released on bail only to commit further crimes, frequently with devastating consequences?

Such a shame when parties can’t agree exactly how to be racist and irrelevant.

Yesterday we lost a great Republican whose commitment to Irish unity, peace and social justice was unwavering. I always enjoyed his company, craic agus ceol. His loss will be felt by all who had the privilege to know him. Farewell Bik. 💔

Huge crowd at Finn Park tonight for Harps v Dundalk! Great to see.

"Sinn Féin won't travel to White House over Trump's policies." When a leader calls for straight-up ethnic cleansing (of Gaza), this is the *only* principled response. www.rte.ie/news/ireland...

I genuinely don't get organisations who haven't set up accounts here and are, instead, hanging on the the bloated rapidly decomposing corpse of Twitter. Stay there if you feel you have to, but there are tens of millions of users, clients, call them what you will, all here to be interacted with...

Never thought I’d see an Irish government so hell bent on subverting Dáil procedures. And for what? To give Independents who repeatedly support the government even more opportunity to perform stroke politics.

Former Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro has been charged with leading a plot to overthrow the government and undermine the country's 40-year-old democracy after his 2022 election loss, complicating his narrow chances of a political comeback

Bad move. I’m now 25 days without internet in Donegal. National Broadband Ireland’s response to this storm will be making many in rural Ireland rethink fibre. m.independent.ie/business/ima...

This where we are.

Anyone else in Ireland still without fibre internet since the storm? 22 days and counting now for me.

Greatest league in the world!

looking back, AOL had it right. 30 hours of internet per month was the right amount.

Words fail.

The Taoiseach has been a member of the Dáil since 1989. He knows what happens when you call someone a liar in the Dáil. He was trying to pull a fast one simply because he could.

Fianna Fáil/Fine Gael have decided to throw renters to the wolves and take the side of the vulture funds. Renters right across the country are already being fleeced, they simply cannot afford further rent hikes. We will continue to fight the Government on this. #SpéirGhorm

FYI Deputy Pearse Doherty is now on Bluesky.

16 days now without NBI fibre internet. I can’t be the only one thinking fibre is hardly worth it if this is how long it is going to be out for after a storm. All neighbours without fibre have had their internet restored ages ago.

Do they ever take a redner?

2025 will go down as the year when all the subtext became text

Similar in Ireland too. There are many reasons for the slump in sales but you’d have to think Musk is absolutely toxic now for a brand like Tesla.

Perhaps if he had not spent so much time playing video games so that he could be the #1 video game player he would know that the answer to this question is "All of them."

Watched The Substance. A really timely film as it could easily be David Lynch’s retelling of The Portrait of Dorian Gray. It’s Mulholland Drive meets Elephant Man. Unfortunately it meets Reservoir Dogs and meets The Human Centipede also and I’m not entirely sure that part was necessary.

Not a scientist but 98% sure humans sleep at night to avoid seeing the night sky and being constantly aware of the size of the universe, how miniscule we are in it, and the subsequent infinite gutteral screaming that would inevitably provoke

Michael Longley: ‘Most men don’t like intelligent women. I just hang on their every word’. Published last July to mark his 85th birthday and the publication of Ash Keys, his Selected Poems, this is a brilliant interview by my colleague Freya McClements www.irishtimes.com/culture/book...

The number of houses built last year DECREASED by 6.7% according to the CSO. A total of 30,330 homes were built in 2024.

Very sad news.

I don’t ever say this lightly about women as I know the struggles to get anywhere in a patriarchal society - but tis Creann Comhairle is both partisan and incompetent- she is not fit for the office #speirgorm

The audacity of Martin is astounding. To claim what opposition is doing is a subversion of the constitution when it is FF, FG, Murphy and Lowry that is attempting to fundamentally change Dáil procedure by allowing some TDs to simultaneously be in government and opposition.

If only we had some sign or indication that a government with Michael Lowry, Verona Murphy and the Healy Raes pulling the strings would be a basket case.

Ceann Comhairle and government have turned the Dáil into a farce.

I saw a post saying “Is Musk the first person to be radicalised by a website he also owns” and I think that probably takes it.

He slapped his chest and gave a straight right arm salute. Twice. After openly supporting neo-nazis the world over. I’m all for giving people the benefit of the doubt but anyone who doesn’t think those were 2 nazi salutes needs to have a word with themselves.

Who made this 🤣
