My late Dad had bile duct cancer. The hospital fitted a stent to open up his bile ducts.
When he went back to the ward they gave him tea and toast.
We later found out he should avoid bread as it can cause blockages in the stent.

Although you don't say in your update then this sounds as if you are not voting against on moral or religious grounds?
What safeguards in particular are not robust enough to protect the vulnerable?
