I want to be clear about this: Fighting for art and speech and jokes and generally not being a piece of shit is good for the soul, obviously.
But it's also good for business.
The places that abandoned their values to get in line and kiss the ring are fading. The Onion is growing.

It’s easy to be cynical about public opinion, but scholars of authoritarianism are pretty clear that there’s a serious difference in what an autocrat polling at 80% and what one polling at 40% can do. Not obeying in advance includes not surrendering to specious narratives of omnipotence.

The MCA is part of the Internet Archive’s CARTA program to archive art related websites. It’s a great program, but there is much to be archived and so much that’s already been lost. carta.archive-it.org

ICE has been deporting US citizens accidentally-on-purpose for years, and the Trump admin is now saying they have no obligation to return anyone who was mistakenly removed
that means *right now* citizens are vulnerable to permanent removal
