We definitely shouldn't ban things. The social connections technology allows us to make are undeniably a force for good, but it does need control.
Without any form of control its easy to use these technologies to manipulate and divide instead of connect and unite.
Just look at "X"

I can beat that.
Empty driveway, check.
Parking bay nearby, check.
Completely empty quiet street, check.
Fuck it on the pavement anyway.

According to a TLDR YouTube report, its low single digit percentage points. Labour is teens percentage points according to the same source

You do understand that there are people who would say what you have said not in jest, but sincerely.
Swap "cyclists" for any other group and see how it reads.

Lycra, check. Red lights, check. Moral high ground, check. Cycle lanes, check.
You just need to mention "Road Tax" to complete your cyclist bingo card.

So you hate yourself and wish to be "mowed down"?

He was in a car, that automatically downgrades the violence in the eyes of the law.

Or if they had used something other than a car. We make excuses everyday for the daily violence of people in motorised vehicles.

I actually used to respect him as a motoring journalist, he punctured a lot of the pomposity associated with it, but these days he's just an unsufferable prick.

If you took pressurized water from the ocean depths, put it in a can and then opened it a sea level then it absolutely would be "fizzy"
That's what "fizzy" is its dissolved gasses being released due to a change in pressure.
comment in response to

Well that depends on your definition of "carbonated".
The world's oceans store massive quantities of dissolved oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide.

Sure, why not. I'd be delighted to find out how this relates to the shape of the earth.

Blusky really needs to up its flat earth game. There are too many people engaged in actual rational thought on this app.

Sorry to "aktshually". But the star system is Alpha Centuari, which is made up of Alpha Centuri A + B which are a binary pair, and the much smaller star of Proxima Centauri which orbits the larger pair at a distance of 0.3 ly

Labour will never win over the voters who want gunboats in the Channel, so why even try.
Win over the people who want teachers in schools, doctors in hospitals and a return to civility instead.

Traditional Labour voters don't want to see the party ape Reform.
Reform voters are never going to vote for Labour.
So who exactly are the appealing to?

Labour's problem is its trying to win back the wrong voters. There will always be about 20% of the population who would vote for Oswald Moseley if they could.
Labour should never be chasing these votes, win back votes from Libs and Greens with progressive policies instead.

Its really easy to thread a BB shell, especially in an alloy frame, I think its down to how fine the thread pitch is. Its one of the reasons I'm really careful installing a BB. Absolutely no excuse for someone you paid to do it doing such a bad job though.

"Marco Langbroek predicts the failed spacecraft will re-enter about 10 May. He estimates it will come crashing in at 150mph (242km/h), if it remains intact."
I think there's a good chance a de-orbiting spacecraft might be travelling a little faster than my Hyundai can manage on an autobahn🤷

Let these voters go, win back votes from Libs and Greens with progressive policies.

"the cycling community"
No such thing exists.
Is there a "driving community" a "pedestrian community" a "bus riding community"
Call out bad riding by all means, enforce it too. But this ridiculous notion of collective responsibility needs to stop

So even if I behave perfectly on my bike I should face abuse because of "the way a minority of cyclists behave to others"
Is this only true for cycling, or is it okay for me to hate everyone in a car because a driver cut me up the other day?
comment in response to
post
Do you think all cyclists do this or just a small minority?
Why then should safe and considerate cyclists face such rage?

A lot of it is down to the specific tyre. I can push Maxxis tyres on with my thumbs, Scwalbe tyres have me snapping levers, swearing (and or crying) and generally hating life. There are some cool unbeading tool that really help though.

Except its not five deaths, nor has it ever been zero. The average has been between 2 and 3 for at least the last 20 years
About the same as people killed by bees and half those killed by cows.

The UK government increased the maximum penalty for dangerous driving to life in prison in 2022.
It's made no difference to road safety.
So there's that.

My car weighs 1.5 tons and has a top speed of 155mph. I can be orders of magnitude more dangerous in it, than I could ever be on my bicycle, which weighs the same as a Cocker Spaniel and has a similar top speed.

Why will it "make careless cyclists think twice and may be a deterrent for cyclists" when similar laws don't appear to do this for driving?
Are cyclist uniquely susceptible to changes in legislation?
