Anthony Volpe hit a homer. It was 110 mph off the bat, the highest exit velocity of his career by 1.3 mph. That's in the regular season, postseason, Spring Training, whatever. Statcast's bat speed data tells us Volpe began swinging much harder last postseason, and he's kept it up this spring. Hmmm.

Today's lineup and broadcast info. Austin Wells is playing in his first game of the spring. The Yankees originally said he wouldn't do that until the first week of March. Also, Gerrit Cole will make his first start Friday. Figure Max Fried and Luis Gil do the same over the weekend.

Spencer Jones hit NYY's first homer of the spring. Came after Everson Pereira challenged a called strike in a 3-2 count. Call was overturned, Pereira walked to extend the inning, then Jones dingered.
