Japan isn't having it.

Once again, Hillary was right— about everything!

Granddaughter of a Navy vet. Daughter of a Navy vet. Mother of an Army soldier. Not one damn dime should be spent on a military parade for a draft dodger…

This is a shockingly mistaken understanding of due process by Stephen Miller. It is likely this misunderstanding that is informing the President’s misunderstanding.

MAJOR BREAKING: INDIA ATTACKS PAKISTAN WITH MISSILE STRIKES IN AT LEAST 3 LOCATIONS

The FAA halted the work of an outside panel of experts scrutinizing its management of air traffic control, a previously unreported move made after a fatal airliner crash near Washington raised questions about the agency’s abilities to keep the skies safe.

I mean the authority to unilaterally impose tariffs is itself extremely dubious, but the President *clearly* has zero authority to unilaterally strike trade deals without a vote from Congress.

I keep seeing variants of “what an exciting time for political scientists.” We are not excited. An epidemiologist isn’t excited when, after warning for years about an impending epidemic, the epidemic strikes. No one thinks the thing that’s been keeping them up at night is thrilling to watch unfold.

Breaking news: Tensions between the two countries have been rising since last month when New Delhi blamed Islamabad for an attack by militants in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 26 people. www.ft.com/content/c03e...

Native women and girls suffer disproportionately high levels of attacks, violence and rape. Today, on the National Day of Awareness for Missing & Murdered Indigenous Peoples, I commit to honoring Native voices, demanding justice, and working to end this #SilentCrisis.

Allow me to address the elephant in the room: The decades-long outsourcing of domestic manufacturing to China was not an insidious Chinese conspiracy for dominance but the greedy strategy of the American ruling class to explode its profit margins by exploiting global inequality.

How did we lose the ability to return to the Moon after Apollo? Casey Dreier talks with sociologist Janet Vertesi, who studies NASA mission teams, to explore how institutional knowledge gets lost—and what that means for the future of space exploration. Trump just declared Harvard ineligible for all science grants and the NYT totally botches the story. It's not that "Harvard.. relies on federal money..[for] its projects". It's the federal government that relies on Harvard for its projects. Harvard provides services for you, the taxpayer. 1/

Planes were briefly “flying blind” into Newark Liberty International Airport last week after a communications blackout occurred. Sources said the outage lasted 90 seconds on April 28th and shook up the on-duty controllers so much that some were placed on “trauma leave.”

In space, Venus flanks Earth on the left, with a hellfire greenhouse effect. Mars on the right, which long ago had running water. Today, it's bone dry. Something bad happened on each planet. Seems like the wrong time to limit the Nation’s capacity to conduct climate research.

Trump continues to attack the judicial branch of government and corrupt the Justice Department. That makes this more than just one U.S. Attorney in one office. In the words of Senator Adam Schiff, “No one embodies Donald Trump’s personal weaponization of the Justice Department more than Ed Martin.

"Pertussis, or whooping cough, is now spreading at a rate the U.S. hasn’t seen since vaccines were introduced in 1948." It's No Coincidence. Public health funding is being slashed. Vaccine misinformation is spreading. Fewer people are getting vaccinated. This is the result.

Good thread

THE PENTAGON BUDGET JUST HIT A TRILLION DOLLARS. Not a single pundit from either political party said “how are we going to pay for it?!” Don’t dare tell us we cannot ALL have healthcare, housing, and education.

A reminder: Both sheriffs and local police have the right to refuse ICE detainers. These requests are voluntary and not legally enforceable under federal law. Across the country, many sheriffs and police departments choose not to cooperate and that choice is fully within their legal rights.

I watch #PBS almost exclusively. Masterpiece, Mystery, NOVA, Nature, Independent Lens, Frontline, American Experience, Henry Louis Gates, Lucy Worsley, Ken Burns - they have all been part of my daily life for decades. 100k words would be too few to say all the ways it makes society better.

Thank you Canada!

Maddow: A coalition of groups including Indivisible, Social Security Works and 50501 are all organizing a nationwide day of protest for June 14th. They're calling it No Kings day. Join us: nokings.org

EXACTLY!

Pediatricians say that childhood vaccines are safe. A heroin-addled nepo baby with a brain worm says they may not be. For busy voters, it can be hard to know who to believe.

Page One must have been crowded. So NYT puts it on Page 13. 🤡 @schooley.bsky.social

Arts organizations across the country saw their grants pulled with little explanation, while a proposed federal budget sought to eliminate the arts funding agency altogether.

NEW: Trump’s DOJ just removed the ATF’s “Faces of Gun Violence” memorial, which was created to honor police officers killed by gunfire and children murdered in school shootings. This is a slap in the face to victims and survivors everywhere.

Guys he wants to reopen Alcatraz

He's also the president who killed things like this. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work. snyder.substack.com/p/twenty-les...

So I think the folks at Ladbrokes need to start running a line on whether Trump can make it to January 20, 2026 without being committed to a mental institution

They Believe Poor Americans Have Too Much…

Inspiring celebration of David Attenborough from Kate Winslet and many others - and a much-needed reminder to stand with science www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...

When the topic is women the conflict is that women are failing society. When the topic is men it's that society is failing them.

Ashley Babbit's family is poised to recieve 30 million dollars (from tax payers) thanks to the Dept of Justice... Mrs Sicknick just wanted a phone call and the people who assaulted her son Brian held accountable.

Hell yeah! Look at Maine leading the way🔥 Public schools everywhere, take note: Do not comply in advance.

Things the president of the United States said on meet the press today: He doesn’t know if he has to follow the constitution He’s fine with a recession Americans can do with less Small businesses are just “a couple of little businesses”

Trump’s ATF took down the Faces Of Gun Violence Exhibit at its headquarters. Our Chairwoman @pomurray.bsky.social met with Director Steve Dettelbach in Dec. before he left his position & the Director shared that the exhibit was added for the bureau to remember its mission - to protect Americans!

Pre-Trump tariff price &14.99. Trump tariff price will be $36.
