Going through the last of my book proofs. Went to see latest updated numbers on women in wildland fire. There's no info. It's been scrubbed by our current administration.

I have not been here at all but I will be here! It's a breath of fresh air.

Well, it's really happening.

My life and writing transformed when I took the initiative to change how I did social media and screens. Now I'm leading a multi-month intensive to help others bring awareness to their SM and screen use. Join me!

It's 2025 so I can officially say MY FIRST BOOK IS COMING OUT THIS YEAR! I spent SIX years writing this book about the seven years I spent fighting wildland fires and the history of fire suppression in the United States. You can pre-order it here at the @groveatlantic.bsky.social website:

What have you watched lately that blew you away on any level? Any films or shows, new or old.

Nothing has taught me more about how white supremacy and classism and discrimination works in liberal circles than being in a PhD program. It's so subtle, but some of these ppl may as well be MAGA even tho they went hard for Kamala.

In my newsletter today I wrote about why I don't celebrate Thanksgiving and offer a reading list composed of incredible Indigenous authors and their books- I'll be creating a couple more reading lists over the next couple weeks.

Lincoln created Thanksgiving in 1863- one year after he ordered a mass hanging of Dakota tribal members. The holiday was meant to improve relations between northern and southern states as well as w/ Native Americans. It is a patently American holiday- one that refuses to acknowledge the violence

Authors Against Book Bans has posted an open letter demanding that publishers prepare for 2025 by protecting authors and the freedom to read.

I know from experience that there are many good men in the world. But my lorb, I want to know why there are so many terrible men. I mean, I think I know why, but if you're a man I'd love to hear your thoughts.

If you're alone today- know that you're not alone in that experience. It's okay to be sad or angry or content or even happy to have some time to yourself. If you're grieving...know that many of us have spent the holidays in despair. It does get better. I love you.

I'm spending Thanksgiving (a holiday created to erase the violent truth of U.S. colonization) alone, researching book stuff. I'm not upset about it- after 13 years without parents, I've learned to embrace solitary holidays.

Are you a writer with a book coming out in 2025? I'd love to make a starter pack for us. If you want to join pls reply to this or message me. And if you'd like more ppl to see this please share it! Let's support each other!

I made a TikTok about the true history of Thanksgiving and genocidal actions of colonizers and they deemed it ineligible for the FYP. This is why social media is a farce. Ppl can post transphobic and racist content but I can't post actual U.S. history without being censored.

I'm a big fan of Dreyer's English. An accessible instructional book for writers of all levels. Also, it's fun to read.

Still recovering from an oral surgery but I took another walk in one of my favorite places and found a nature collage.

I had time for a walk today and this is what I found.

Percival Everett’s James wins the National Book Award for Fiction!

Whenever we make ourselves smaller for them, they just shrink our box again.

Taught my last class for a little over a week and have some precious time to...read for prelims. And rest. For the first time in many YEARS. Very happy about this.

our ancestors accomplished more, with less, against worse. stay locked in.

I wrote a book about growing up in an abusive home & becoming a wildland firefighter. It's also about the history of 🔥 in the U.S., & the importance of Indigenous land stewardship and ITEK. It's now available for pre-order, which is absolutely wild to me. August 2025, via @groveatlantic.bsky.social

TRUST ME when I say you are going to want to read this! River is such a beautiful writer, a beautiful human, and a dear friend. The pieces I’ve read from this book as they worked on it are stunning. I can’t wait to hold this in my hands and read the whole wonderful thing. (Also, that cover 🔥🔥🔥)

We're so excited about ORBITAL winning the Booker Prize 2024 that we had to jump on here to continue shouting it from the rooftops! @thebookerprizes.bsky.social

Good afternoon! Please take the time today to ask your US Senator to support Senator Sanders' Joint Resolutions of Disapproval. This could potentially block $20 BILLION in arms to Israel. The vote will likely be tomorrow.

My level of anxiety directly correlates with my use of exclamation points!!!!!!!!

Hey, y'all, my dear friend @lahenion.bsky.social just hopped on here and she has a new book out that is so GORGEOUS. Give her a follow and definitely check out NIGHT MAGIC by Leigh Ann Henion. www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/leigh...

Carl Rollyson on how Sylvia Plath found her literary voice by keeping a diary: “At an early age, Plath realized you could incorporate yourself in a medium.”

I announced my new book today and it didn't get one heart, or any acknowledgement. Not that I'm entitled to that. But I would love it if new and teeny accounts could somehow be more visible. Not sure how it works here. An algorithm? No? Then what is it. Pls enlighten me!

This incredibly nuanced post exemplifies allyship. Thank you @georgetakei.bsky.social for speaking up. As a nonbinary person in Florida I feel a distinct change- a boldness to be violent and hateful. Someone yelled at me from their truck today and I went into a total panic attack. We need you.
